Hello i am enjoying your patches. I have been doing modular as a complete beginner for nearly a year and just starting to undersrand it. I have marbles and plonk. On plonk are you using a preset of have you made your own voice and did you use the string. Tbh i cant get my head around the best way to use plonk outside of kick drum. I appreciate your help
@machinemovement52243 жыл бұрын
Hey Steve! The video was made 1.5 years ago so I don't really remember if I used a preset on plonk. But I remember the string mode to be really mighty - Don't worry, physical modeling synthesis is quite complex - and so is Plonk. Maybe watch some tutorials and patch ideas on YT, there are plenty really helpful ones! :)

few modules + huge knowledge = awsome :) Does the Doepfer A 190 - 3 receive Midi to generate the Gate/Clock or whats his job? Would be great if you could explain the purpose :) i´m pretty new to modular sorry
@machinemovement52243 жыл бұрын
Hey Tom! The A 190 - 3 is receiving a simple clock from ableton. It doesn't really make sense because Marbles has a built in clock, but you can control the exact bpm with an external one.

@machinemovement52244 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, the stabby chords are coming from plaits, but the envelopes are generated by Zadar (going to the Koma VCA)!

Terrific sound! I also use Marbles/Plaits/BIA. It looks like you have Marbles T1 going thru an attenuator and controlling Morph on BIA, and something (Marbles T2?) triggering Zadar and then triggering BIA. Can you explain that to me? I would have used Marbles T1 or T2 to trigger BIA, and then used an LFO, smooth random CV, or an envelope to control the Morph. What is the advantage of doing it this way?

Thank you! It's sometimes tough to NOT end up doing heavily saturated/distorted sound with it, as the BIA is rather aggressive. Still one of my favorite modules!

@@machinemovement5224 ... as a noob, that is good to know. I am still climbing the learning curve. Love my Mutable modules though and just started tinkering with Zadar and the NIN modules.

I use my basimilus for ambient stuff quite often. It can sound quite beautiful at lower knob settings. It's also very versatile. Nails kicks, snares, hats and basslines all in the same patch if you feed it the correct gates/envelopes.

Have you listened to Mort Garson's album 'Plantasia'? The setting is reminding me of it if not the music. Sounds great. Is it a struggle to do non-over the top sounds with the BIA?
@machinemovement52244 жыл бұрын
No, but I will check it out! The BIA is really gnarly and it's really easy to make it sound aggressive and punchy. But after some time you know how to handle it, so it's for sure possible to get some soft and sweet tone :)

What’s the bass coming out of of? I’m trying to work it out, you seem to have the chimes coming out of plaits and the snares out of basimilus bu t I can’t work out where the growls bass is coming from.
@machinemovement52244 жыл бұрын
Hi! The bass is also coming from the BIA, snares are triggered via the "attack" of the BIA (you can mix some noise in with turning the attack knob counterclockwise)
