Hi. The English composer John Tavener (1944-2013) wrote this piece with Björk in mind, to suit her unique voice. It is a setting of the ancient Christian 'Jesus Prayer'- "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me" in Engish and Aramaic.

Sorry. 🙁 It was a brief sequence for a church service to illustrate how the world can crash in on us and why a time of quietness with God can be really healing. I hope it didn't trigger any bad memories.

Love it! Back in 1982, the St Andrews Christian Music Fellowship did a production of Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo and somebody had the bright idea of getting me to play the part of a cowardly lion singing Jonah's "I Need a Boat, Man" as he went into the ark. I said it would probably go down like a lead balloon but agreed to do it anyway. On the night, I did the cowardly lion act and it went down a wow! Indeed the student playing Noah had to come backstage and say "get your backside out there again, they're demanding an encore!" Of course I was only too glad to give it! A splendid time was had by all. Fast forward 40 years and I can still remember all the words. And this morning, I was singing "I Need a Boat, Man" to a baby girl in our church creche and the sound of my voice sent her to sleep!
