It was an extremely humid day, recorded 17°C with 96% humidity at one point.

See, I wish to get two pieces of information: 1. Is there any change in work shifts and schools because of winter solistice? 2. How are the (Islamic)prayers organized during the two solistices, ie, how is the timing of 'fajr' and 'isha' in the summer solistice and 'asr' fixed in the winter solistice?

The poor summer of 2024 continues.

Yes, I can't say it's been a summer I'll remember. To be honest, I can't say I'll remember much about 2024 in general, as things stand. The auroral displays have been the standout, but that's not weather-related. Let's see what autumn brings...

I remember the 23rd November 81' storm, its was chucking it down in Wrexham, massive raindrops and heavy too. The snowy winter was brilliant. I've credited the crazy early 80s winters to Mt St Helens volcanic eruption, its a strato volcano so caused atmospheric disturbances and northern hemisphere cooling due to the silver dioxide flung high up into the atmosphere.

Finished my o level year so had all summer off , brillo, you could go off on adventures with no tent , just a sleeping bag and mozzy net . The greenflies and ladybirds were ferociously dense at times. You could not eat or drink outside at all at times .

I live at 47 degrees N. At winter solstice sunrise is 7:45 am sunset is around 4:15 PM. That looked further north, like Scottland or Sweden.🤔🤔🤔🤔

In Australia, the daylight hours are pretty even all year round and range from 6am-9pm in summer (December 21st) to 8am-5pm in winter (June 21st), and if you don't count daylight savings hours during October to April, it's only a 3 hour difference at either end!

This weather was really kind of fitting for this day. Because my grandpa passed away on that day and I'm still very sad. I miss him a lot.

Went for a 6 mile walk around noon - few cars about in my part of the city - absolutely beautiful. For some reason didn't sweat much - assume humidity was very low on that day
