As a Swede, I give 10/10 for the effort and spirit! 😂 Unfortunately that can has been mishandeled. When preserved as "surströmming", the fish gets very delicate and the can has to be handeled with uttermost care or the fish will desintegrate into a messy soup with fish bones. In this very brand of surströmming there should be nice (but stinky, ackording to most people) whole fishes (degutted and deheaded). The bones and spines should not float around in a undefineable soup. This can has probably been shaken far too much. Huge plus points for the "tunnbröd" (translated it means "thin bread")(you called it biscuit). Some tips for the next try. - Handle the can with care, like it was an egg. - Pierce the can submerged under water untill the pressure has dropped, then take the can out of the water and open it just as you did (this way it gets a tiny bit less stinky). - Take the amount of fish you want and put it on a plate and then rinse fish from skin and bones (when you get the grip of it you should get nice fillets). - Put the fillets on the "thin bread" - Cut some well cooked potatoes and put it on the read. - Add a few slices of onion (preferrably shallots or red onion) on top of the potato and fish sandwich. - Optional, butter the "thin bread" with real butter. - Cut some cooked potatoes. -

Unfortunately it was shipped or stored improperly so it all liquified into a soup of fish sludge and bone. Could have been the heat but there were supposed to be whole fish (skin, meat and guts) in that can.
