My check engine light and a transmission hot idle engine msg came up on my dashboard. The transmission fluid got up to 234 when I check. A mechanic said my transmission is bad. He didn’t test it out, he just went with what I told him. He charges 3,500 to fix my transmission. He wont swap het, he will just replace all the parts inside the transmission. Im not sure if there’s actually a need to do all that. Can someone help me?

I completely bypassed my valve by buying cooler lines for the 2013 (no valve) Added a $20 cooler In the winter towing a trailer i was getting up to 210’ Summer now 90-100 degree weather and my trans stays at 165-170 and no more trans slipping or random shifts LITERALLY LIFE CHANGING

Then my converter never locks up until I’m almost overheating. I run at 170s even when towing my camper I don’t go over 190. Only time it heats up is when I’m plowing hard and I’ve gotten it up to 240s 250.

I seen many video's on trans thermostat but what about fluid type . GM has two, one i believe is semi synthetic other full synthetic. Has anyone tested temp readings using either fluid vs valvoline or amsoil. I would think using different fluid would get different results.

I bought a ls6 from a cts-v. I've pulled a few ls motors apart even a ls1 once but usually its just blow the dirt off and send it.But the ls6 actually wanted a nice refresh for my 99' ss . I gotta say it really impressed me. Not just did I find Gen 4 rods and floating pistons. But the rotating assembly had grind marks from gm balanced the motor and other things like the crankshaft was gun drilled are valves are stainless with hollowed Sodium filled exhaust. The oil pump was ported and even rockers were a different ratio.

My silverado 2018 lt transmission is overheating goes 278 degrees 😢 only 70k miles. You guys think that if install the bypass it will help. No check engine light on!
@James-rk6go7 ай бұрын
278 Degrees is wayyy too hot...you may have cooked your torque convertor and fried your clutch pack plates. Get it into a shop STAT...or if you can't do that dump the transmission pan, change out your ATF fluid to Amsoil ATF and replace your trans pan filter with a brand new OEM AC Delco unit. Install a Superior Solutions' STL - 010 trans thermostat kit and hopefully you might be able to save her!! Good luck 🙏

3/2024: Good Day. I bought my 2004 Z06 Commemorative Corvette New. It now has 131,000 miles on it. I have had it up to 176 MPH once. Never raced it, treated it well, but really enjoyed it. No leaks, runs like new and gets good gas milage on the highway. Truthfully, it still has the factory original clutch. While it was under warranty, the dealer did replace the oil pump. Great Engine and your comments are in line with what I am aware of. I'm an old MOPAR Guy. I've owned three 440 magnums, a 383, a 340 and a 318, back in the day. Loved um. This LS6 is the finest engine that I have owned. Thanks for this post & Best Regards.

I had a friend tell me about this problem on his truck, I had no idea. Then, I started checking on my 2015 Sierra, and it was running between 195 to 204 degrees.. so I bought that kit superior solutions tech,. I paid 35 dollars for it. So today, i changed to transmission fluid, filter, and installed the superior solutions thermal bypass. It works really well. I drove it about 6 or 7 miles, and the temp only got up to 133.
@bartrowe37052 ай бұрын
Same situation with a 2016 and same $35 and same 130 range temp. I was concerned that perhaps the 130 degrees (highest I have seen has been 142 on 90 degree day) is it was supposed to open and circulate in the 150 degree range. My truck only has 44K miles so hopefully I changed early enough to save the converter. Seems to be money well spent.
@noahbledsoe563915 күн бұрын
I had my fluid and filter changed and installed this superior solutions kit on my 18 with 6 speed, and the same with short trips around town ...may or may not even get to 130 and on a longer trip the highest I have saw it is 154...well worth it to install.

Can I just run the lines directly into the transmission or will it mess my transmission up without a bypass valve on it?
@gcrauwels941 Жыл бұрын
I just installed the Superior Solutions STL010 thermostat kit. Even though I don't tow a lot and the temp was ~190F, it now runs ~40F cooler. I welded an O2 bung as a drain plug on a replacement pan at the first filter change and do drain & fills every second oil change. I deleted AFM with a tune right after I got the truck at 21K. Sonnax has a great page on why the converters on these are marginal and prone to failure. I plan on replacing the ATF with Mobil1 LV HP ATF 'blue label' next. 96K and crossing my fingers.
