The Russian lineup from 3.3-4.0 is busted very fun, the panzer 4s after the f2 are also great

I know everyone is telling you to do arcade, but I personally found realistic more interesting and switched to it exclusively pretty early on. I think it's because of how rewarding perception is. The ways you died are frustrating, sure, but it trains you to be more aware of the terrain, cover, vantage points, your allies, the map, etc. Every vehicle has its strengths and weaknesses to learn, which can be annoying with how many of them there are, but I feel like War Thunder is a game where skill is really rewarded. The fact that you very clearly paid attention to what was going on around you means you'll probably improve very quickly. Stick with it :)

Arcade would be a good place to start, it gives you a feel for the game and makes you aware of weak spots on tanks, I played arcade until about 3.0-3.7

I would recommend Arcade mode to begin with as it's a bit more forgiving and it allows you to get a feel as to how you should be aiming the guns on the tanks you're using, This also goes for the very early planes in each tree as they're just too slow for realistic, hope you enjoy the game if you decide to continue playing! :)

If you're a beginner then ground arcade is way better for you.
