Great Video. If the local garage quote too much I will do the job myself. Leaf Spring on ebay = £100 each. Best to change both if one has broken.

I would question the oil your putting into it.its meant to be mineral oil not semi.thats what David silver honda spares guy says it should have.because I have a 400.4. and asked the question.and not car oil its four stroke.hope that helps in future.

Had mine fail just like that on both sides. Hard braking and the rear axle shifted rearwards. Took about an hour per side with some struggle and i did cut most U bolts.

You skiver! You never showed us how murderous it is to refit the air filter box manifold chamber , especially if the rubbers are brittle and the box has gone a bit concave!

I just did the carb rebuild and have three lines coming off the carbs. Are they all fuel lines? Do they have to be joined together?

Hello SHEDMAN 101, a friend of mine in Germany owns a Scheibe SF 27 He had sent me a photo this evening that he had taken from inside the cockpit while flying this week and I came across your video this evening and he has also watched your video. My friend in Germany doesn’t have a Google account so he asked me to send you a message. His has told me that his Glider Cub in German bought a damaged SF27a in 1981 and they rebuilt it and that it was his favourite aircraft for a long time. He has said that he flew it more than 200 hours between 1982 and 1987 before the club sold it. There aircraft also had a special side mounted air vent which he has said is not standard for the SF 27a aircraft. He has a strange feeling that the aircraft in your video may be there former aircraft. When it belonged to his club it had the registration D-6068 and was built in 1967 He has said that it would be very interesting to see if you could please verify if this is indeed the same aircraft My friend has said that you should be able to see if it is the same aircraft if you were have a look at the papers to see if it was D-6068.

Great walk-around. I was flown the SF27 in the 70/80. In some situations the plane was a bit dangerous. When you reach stall-speed with full speedbrakes the nose "falls down" without warning immediately. During approach you will have no height for recovery.

just got my transit a week ago and knew it would fail MOT but it needs more than I had bargained for-2 leaf springs, 3 brake pipes, suspension mountings front and rear, sills, disc worn and a wee oil leak to finish it all off. Apart from that it's all good . Enjoyed your vid Shedman-will just need to get my finger out now lol

Sounds like you have your work cut out , that's a more than cost and work enough for anyone . Best of luck, work safe. regards SHEDMAN

@@shedman1014 got all the work done courtesy of my mechanic son but sadly had to sell it to recoup costs so never got to drive it for more than half an hour in total. Loved every minute of it and will hopefully get the chance to own another one in the future as they are brilliant vans. Keep your vid up Shedman for I will no doubt need guidance in the days ahead. Cheers

Great bike. Good instructional video too. On my 1975 CB750 I haven't had to use clamps on any of the fuel hoses (carb connections, fuel filter or petcock.). The fuel lines all fit snug and haven't leaked a drop. I use clamps on the manifold boots obviously (engine side and airbox side.). I would've sprayed some carb cleaner and compressed air through any passageways and double-checked float heights before putting the carbs back on the bike, but it sounded great when you fired it up.

You don't need to disturb the airbox.. just remove the filter and the large oval tube that goes into the collector box .. (loosen the clamp first) - I was a motorbike courier had 3 of these that did over 500k miles in 14 years so I know!

It seems very odd to me that we're quite happy for the sea to do immense damage to land-based nature, but we can't intervene because it would be 'un-natural'. The oyster beds on the Billy Trail do a fantastic job protecting the Billy Trail while providing one of the best nature reserves in England. I'd like to see more 'Living Breakwaters' that make a sea defence and a nature reserve at the same time.
