I thought the Supralite was nice, which surprised me, because I tend to dislike the sound of steel snares. Maybe the depth makes it sound nice.

I noticed you have the Sonor Super Lock Tuning Safe SL-5205 set on your Phonic. Is it any good? would you recommend?

Such a bummer arriving from the festival bus to hear this only a few mins later, and realise what was going on. People in the campsite were emotional

Hi, I also like the Worldmax and the D505 best. What heads are on those two snares and what snarewires? I own a Sonor D500 with diecast hoops. It sounds quite different from your D505, but I love it. I thinkk I'm going to get me a Worldmax too. It sounds fantastic! Thanks for the review!
@drumtamer Жыл бұрын
Thanks! The Worldmax has a Remo PS77 coated batter head over an Ambassador Hazy, just the stock Worldmax wires. The Sonor has a Remo Ambassador coated over a hazy, with some cheap Pearl wires.

I have a chance at a trade for my Stuart Copeland 5x14 COB for a Sonor Ferromanganese , would you do it?
@drumtamer Жыл бұрын
They're both great snares, but I absolutely love my Sonor. I would do it personally, but if you can play it before you do to check you like it that's likely your best bet!

@@drumtamer They are just great...I have now a Sonor D 454 but don't like as much as the 555. Anyway my favourite snares ever are Premier 35 and 36 (or Beverley cosmic 21 and 8120 which are the same snares with different badge). I prefered them to the Ludwig supraphonic 400/402 and to the Sonor ferromanganese.

just found you channel.. new sub won... good work! Best wishes from a fellow drummer/studio geek ( i also own and sometimes even use ;-) a Big R in: 10(converted concert tom), 12,13,14,15,16,18,24... LOOOOVE them.. Although mostly just 13,16,18,24 is set up.
@drumtamer2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! That's a beast of a Big R you have. I've got a 24/13/16 Big R XP8 as well that is ace, but doesn't get as much studio time as this one.

Sonor Phonic for the win.. again. It can do everything. I have an older version.. but I using it a lot.. for all kind of styles. Even though I have 30+ snare drums,. its on my top 5. Thats for studio use.. live.. well.. I wont risk using to expensive/rare drums there, so more run of the mill ones is used.

Back in the 1960’s and 70’s Rogers were the most expensive drums on the market. More expensive than Ludwig Gretsch or Slingerland.. They’re called the Cadillac of drums. Very nice sounding 1970’s Rogers kit.What heads are you using?
