My wife and I just visited the Banff and Jasper area in an RV this past summer. Beautiful area, saw Bears 13 times !!! More than the cumulative total of bear sightings I have had in my entire life up to that trip. We didn't see any Bison, but lots of other wildlife. Enjoyed your video, thanks for effort to film and edit. It looks like a lot of work.
@aaronfulwider77913 күн бұрын
Thank You for the comment and taking the time to watch. That is insane to have 13 Bear sightings in one trip. Very special times spent in Banff and wildlife encounters make it that much better. The park is trying to control the spread of the Bison, which are supposed to be confined to a few drainages. A few individuals are migrating to parts of Banff they are not really supposed to be in. Soon, First Nations will get a chance to hunt the Bison as a means of population control.

The smell of acrid smoke and horses breath. As I plunge on in to certain death. Yah!!! my girlfriend and I in college went to see maiden, which was about 35 years ago. Eddie came out over the crowd and his brain exploded. As far as I know, she still has the piece of his 🧠!!!!
@aaronfulwider77920 күн бұрын
I love Maiden because they write songs about actual history and literature. When I first saw the album cover for Piece of Mind I was like "Yuk, who is that guy all chained up to the walls." Then several years later I actually listened to Piece of Mind and loved it. More than anything, Iron Maiden has taught me not to judge a book by the cover.

This is a great video! I summited yesterday but unfortunately had the clouds all socked in to the east like your summit here couldn't see anything but west was clear. It's interesting to see your video after going up myself but of course you were early season prob better on snow I was climbing the fun fun fun scree. See you found the dwarf door up top to the summit!
@aaronfulwider77927 күн бұрын
Thank You for watching and glad you enjoyed the summit. I bet it was a beautiful approach in the fall conditions and all. Yes, the dwarf door to the top is using the snow, it makes travel a little more stable, if the snow is in good conditions of course. I would like to go back when it is 100% clear so the views of Hood Canal and Puget Sound can be seen. Take care and climb on!

Absolutely amazing footage, never been up that way so the views were all new for me. Was the gate to Mowich still closed so you had to take the long walk up the road or trail?
@aaronfulwider779Ай бұрын
Yes, the gate to Mowich was closed and we did not get started until later in the afternoon on the 3rd. We took the road and grindstone trail to Mowich Lake. To be honest, this section went by super quick and it did not take us long to get the Mowich Lake Rd behind us. Very pretty forest walk as well. Also, the road closure kept the crowds away. Felt like we were the only ones up there.

Bypass looked sketchier than the finger traverse.
@aaronfulwider7793 ай бұрын
The bypass is narrow and the chimney that you down climb is a bit awkward and scary because if you fell backwards it would be bad. The ledges you follow after the chimney are also on the edge for sure. I have never done the finger traverse so I cannot compare. The bypass has enough exposure for one day.

It was a combination of the melting snow and what we had just unpacked out of the summit register. For these reasons, I love the mental aspect of climbing.
