How did the US win the war? They had been forced into a massive retreat across the entire peninsula by the Chinese and the front lines only froze with a truce and negotiations when the US threatened to use nuclear weapons. The dominant narrative of this conflict that you've been told about in the US is completely ahistorical.

I remember seeing this movie about 10 yrs ago wow what a great thoughtful film. This should have won all kinds of awards. Another movie I saw about the same time that was also about this war that is one of my all time favorite films: “Flowers of War” a must see film for those that like complex intriguing movies

The Chinese people continue to be demonized by western media in this era where the United States gears up to invade. 60% of the United States military is stationed in Asia. The offensive stations they’ve taken on form an encircling zone around China with Japan, The Philippines, Australia, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Korea all as command centers. Their attempts in Afghanistan were to this same end where they hoped to attain a foothold on land to attack China from the Western flank. We are barraged here in the West by pro Taiwan, pro Hong Kong, and pro Cambodian sentiment. We are barraged here in the West by vitriolic rhetoric towards the CCP. We are barraged here in the West by claims which allege the Chinese government is involved in genocide against its own people. We are bombarded by fear mongering surrounding the military posturing that China supposedly engages in. So it’s aggressive, warlike behavior when China performs military drills in the South China Sea, but it’s “peacekeeping” or “humanitarian aid” when the U.S. keeps a nuclear armed battleship mere kilometers from Chinese shores? It’s a “show of solidarity with allies” when the U.S. performs mock offensives against the Chinese shores with Japan and the Philippines? It’s supposedly common practice for US arms dealers to ship billions worth of weaponry to Taiwan and to radicalize its people against their own nation? This is a type of insanity of apocalyptic implications. All the while, the truth is obscured. The stories of these women are not told. The history of what the Chinese people have endured is whitewashed and erased, instead favoring a cartoonish, racist depiction of China which utterly disrespects the billions that live and the billions that have been lost on Chinese soil.
