I played this little tune as it was discovered by an interesting musical expert in 1954. I was researching the cornetto and learned that the sackbut had been believed to have originated in Egypt. This was because the translators of the King James Bible could not translate the name of an instrument referred to in the Old Testament and settled for the sackbut. In fact it dates from the 15 th century/ 16 th century.

I have continued my research into the trombone section of Haley's Washington Military Concert Band and have confirmed that Harry A. Stone was the band's trombone soloist and therefore likely to have been the soloist on the record. The only way I knew this phrase was from a comedy album by Brother Dave Gardner in the ‘60’s.
