Baptism rocks so deep… join us and we join him into death… baptism it is a burial. Wherever he goes, he transforms.

Fun sermon. Though I think one has to be careful to distinguish our baptism into Moses with our baptism into Christ. One baptism is of water, the other baptism is of the Holy Spirit and Fire. (Matt 3:11) In order to cross the Jordan, Moses must die! In other words, the veil of the Law’s letter must be torn away (2 Cor 3:14, Rom 7:6). And we must begin to appropriate the Word BY THE SPIRIT, NOT THE LETTER. (Rom 7:6) Many contrast old covenant and new, as though these were two separate sets of writings, rather than two unique ways of appropriating the Word, literally or mystically. For until the stone of the dead letter is rolled away, we will not truly experience the Spirit of the Word breaking forth from the tomb. What does this Transfiguration of the Word truly unveil? The most wondrous of revelations…CHRIST IN US! So this story of baptism is no longer about Jesus. Rather, we are to hear the voice of God speak to us, “YOU ARE MY BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED!” As we read the so-called New Covenant writings by the Spirit, not the letter, what they reveal is Christ in us! For we are the Temple of God, the Dwelling Place of God in the Spirit! (Eph 2:22) We are Father’s House! (Jn 14:2) And that DOVE represents God taking up residence in us (1 Cor 3:16). Not that He hasn’t always been present. “For in Him we live and move and have our existence.” (Acts 17:28) But the baptism at the Jordan AWAKENS us to this reality. For we are the “Living Stones” in the Spiritual House that God is building. (1 Pet 2:5) In Hebrew there is word play here, for in a Text without vowels, the word stone (eben) and the word son (ben) are both evident. And thus we are the “anointed stones/sons” that make up “Beth-el”, the House of God. “For God was in this place (in us), and I did not know it.” (Gen 28:16-17) “But Christ was faithful as a Son over His House-WHOSE HOUSE WE ARE.” (Heb 3:6) Our baptism at the Jordan is our invitation to experience that unity of God and man, that mystery of incarnation. Of the Word becoming flesh IN US. (Jn 1:14) As we are “CLOTHED IN CHRIST”, we thus become true partakers of the Divine Nature (2 Pet 1:4, Col 3:9-15) “For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.” (Gal 3:27) And thus “it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” (Gal 2:20)

I am listening this sermon on Sunday morning while “hiding” inside my minivan parked on my church parking lot. Yes, it is true that church is not Jesus, but how much I want to be in a church where the message is not confusing, is the nutrition of souls. Thank you pastor Zehnd for this excellent sermon.

This world is corrupted with many superpowers. For this preacher to target "America" and the "Star Spangled Banner" is a wrong attitude, a personal agenda. Using the gospel to mingle a political agenda is a false gospel and does not minister to His sheep. This preacher's wonderful message is ruined with his irritating remarks of America's faults which people are keenly aware of already. It is unnecessary and this preacher actually makes the American way and God's way a competition instead of a way of life for the country of America. Yes, God's way is always the correct way. God help us to focus on you and your song within us and for each other in harmony. The anthem of America is of American History. Every nation has one. For all the nations and their faults; they will all bow to The King of Kings. In the "in between" time, pray and keep your faith strong. The anthem of the Kingdom of God is "HIS LOVE". Pray for this preacher to stop his personal political agenda.

Amen! 8 years ago, the Lord had called me back from the lowest place in my life - a vital part of what I had built my life upon had collapsed and been taken from me, not without fault on my part, but at my lowest, I returned to the family of God's church - I called upon Him and he ministered to me and 8 years ago tonight, at this very time I type this, I was driving back from meeting a lady for the first time who within 2 years had become my wife. We would meet for dinner the next night and we treated ourselves to a very special Afternoon Tea today to celebrate the best 8 years of our lives - so far - and give thanks to the Lord for bringing us together! Let go of that which you rely on in your own strength - and fall straight into the loving arms of your Father in heaven, who will provide!

Took me a long time but I finally realized that my parents were too poor to like or love me. & my parents were like most people who see other people as tools. I was told repeatedly that I'd better earn my keep. "All you do is cost us $" is a rant I heard during beltings.
