If you've taken the pre-health classes, but don't have the grades for MD/DO/DDS, but have above a 3.0 gpa, consider podiatry school. Lower gpa required, but you're still a "real doctor" who does surgery, prescribes meds, and makes patients feel better with treatments that are objectively proven through peer-reviewed science to work.

A subluxation has never been identified through an MRI or any other type of imaging method. So yes chiropractic care is pseudoscience and chiropractors are quacks

Step 1: Apply. Step 2: Accepted. Step 3: Dont fail or get behind. They pretty much accept everyone. If I had known that I may have chosen a D.O. program. That said the curriculum is rigorous and people who arent serious typically wash out in the first year. Just know for 250K in student debt there are no jobs out there to cover basic needs in this inflated housing market and very few employers will offer health insurance. The vast majority of clinics are high volume and will blow out your wrists/shoulders in the name of profit while making sure appointment times are too short to do your job well. This opens pracitioners up to malpractice liability for many reasons and diminishes the quality of any service you are providing. If you are going into healthcare more money look elsewhere. If you are going in to help people, be sure to do it by starting your own practice. Starting a business with 250k of student debt is not viable. Overall if you cant get out with less than 50k in student debt, chiropractic school is a raw deal. 4 years without wages going further into debt each day is quite the oppotunity cost. Youll also have little to no respect from your allopathic/medical peers, even if you are a research based practitioner who does dietary/nutrition and physical therapy as a complimentary modality to adjusting. It is a remarkably rewarding career for the right person with the right financial standing and family support systems. Dr. Tyler J Beck, DC Palmer Main Campus Class 231

First, nowhere in the writings of D.D. Palmer, B.J. Palmer or the seminal work "Chiropractic Textbook" by the late Dr. R.W. Stephenson who wrote the famous "33 Principles", does it say "we are all energy" or "everything is energy". It says we are a triunity of 3 united forces: "Intelligence, Force and Matter". But if you go to Life U ,you get what you pay for.

Palatine OK, thanks for responding. Sharing the status of physical therapist in your country. That is a good point there in that majority of the patient seen at least in the United States by p.t.s are referred by other physicians whether they be orthopedist, neurologist or primary care physicians so they don’t want to overstep those authorities, referring them patients. Of course. And it’s a reciprocal relationship because people are able to go directly to a physical therapist, especially if their doctorates they don’t need to see a medical doctor. Any well prudent and educated doctor especially in physical spinal medicine, knows that x-rays might be an appropriate and necessary part of treatment in some scenarios. So when a doctor of physical therapy has the rights under their license to order and or take and interpret x-rays, that might help speed up treatment as well.

I think the answer is mostly yes especially if you compare them to real doctors. It does not mean that the profession does not have any knowhow or benefits just like lets say chinese medicine. People often overshoot about things they are passionate about or then they don't care about the practice at all and just want to make money. It is the same with PT and professional massagers. Massaging is one of the most basic things PTs are good at. Their education is much more extensive and they have a much more deeper understanding of the human body down to the neurological level. Yet my PTs always stress that they are not doctors and they do not have that kind of knowhow. A professional massager can claim all he wants, but in reality he knows a fraction of what a PT knows let alone a doctor. So in my oppinion Chiros are somewhat comparable to PTs, but to me PTs are superior and doctors are way superior to both. PT has advanced alot in recent years and now they can take all kinds of different courses to specialize in all kind of obscure things so in that sense they are getting closer to doctors than Chiros and Massagers ever will. People often lack critical thinking and experience in the subject and that is why things are debated even though in reality they are clear as day. I have been disabled Since i was born so i have had my fair share of operations and encounters with different professionals so i think i can safely say i know about this more than most people. So in summary comparing Chiros to Doctors is a huge joke.

Unfortunately, you missed one thing about physical therapy. Yes, there are doctor degrees in physical therapy. I’ve been treated by at least two doctors of physical therapy. But with all their political lobbing and position and position in healthcare, they still are not trained to take or interpret x-rays. I told some of my doctors in physical therapy friends that they need to get on the stick with their politicians and lobbyist because that is where a lot of power lies. yeah, chiropractors are trained to take x-rays to interpret x-rays and to know when to refer to radiologist. I’m a retired chiropractor, and a former massage therapist. There are some practices that chiropractors used that are questionable. I agree. In fact, I believe I fell subject to them at times. However other professions are no different. Example, the long-term use in dentistry of prophylactic antibiotics before having certain dental procedures to prevent infection. They stopped doing that several years ago. Also in midwifery and obstetrics doing C-sections on first pregnancies that we’re not complicated. All professions should progress with scientific and updated clinical information. yeah, the things that are true, good, pure, and excellent should remain and not be challenged. The medical profession has had some blunders there’s no doubt, including the polio vaccination campaigns. until effective vaccination were produced and distributed successfully the first round caused many cases of polio and complications. By the way for quite some time, chiropractors, discourage people from getting immunizations of vaccinations, including children. I was adhered to that philosophy for a while, but have changed my mind over the years. The medical profession means well in someway as far as coming up with a vaccination, for they believe there should be one for every disease ithat is out there. Medical research is very important before the distribution of pharmaceuticals of any kind. for as an old adage says haste makes waste. Adequate time and mannerism of testing is very essential to safeguard the safety and efficacy of pharmaceuticals and vaccinations before distributing to the public. However, drug companies are very upfront about the risk of their medication‘s from the verbiage you hear after every drugs pharmaceutical commercial with their lovely presentations. One of the criticisms I have about chiropractic, which was my own profession was the poor use of informed patient consent. in fact, many outpatient medical doctors were just as bad. The patient has a right to know the benefits, possible side effects, dangers of treatment, and the consequence possibly of having no treatment at all. That is what inform patient consent should consist of..

@@selahchunem8447 I do not know how things work in your country, but i live in Finland an here PTs are just that. They can take different courses to expand their knowhow, but they will not look at x-rays or say anything that contradicts a doctors statement. They can make certain observations based on what they know and make statements you can add to other documents atleast that is how it works here.

Interesting that you have experienced the same things I did going through chiropractic college. I graduated from Palmer 40 years ago. It is amazing that Life is still clinging to the old historic chiropractic philosophical approach. It is important to know where the profession came from but it really just doesn’t enter in today’s practice model.

Thanks for sharing so openly! I think we graduated around the same time just looking at the date this was published. I went to Palmer Davenport and felt exactly the opposite. I wanted to drop out because we were too philosophical and not weighted heavily enough with a scientific approach. It's interesting that we came from different sides of the isle and were both unhappy with the program. I guess that's why it's so difficult to become a professional in such a decoded field. I'm sure this video is helping students even today! We all had our moments. It's tough in chiro school.

Definitely a daunting undertaking when you look at it from the starting line. Parker University is currently $13,000 per trimester just for tuition and class fees. There are 10 of those. You are then expected to spend another $13,000-$14,500 for books, living expenses, food, etc… per trimester. So you’re looking at about $27,000-$28,500 per trimester…times 10. So about $277,000 to become a DC. I’m also married with three kids. The advisors will tell you that you can’t realistically work during this time because school takes about 40-60 hours per week. Then to think you’re going to come out and make maybe $60-$80k if you land a good job. Then you decide to open your own practice….here comes another $300-$450k to get a building and medical equipment. So now you’re looking at around $650-$750k in debt you’re paying off. Say you get to where you’re making $100k a year. You can expect a fat portion of your monthly income to go back to that debit you owe that’s gaining with interest. Say you pay $20,000 a year back towards your school and business loans…you’ll be doing that for 35-40 years at that rate. But hey…you’re doing what you love and you are your own boss.

I have seen chiros for low back pain and they have helped me. The issue is that there is no consistent evidence that chiropractic works. Chiropractic also has some wild beliefs and the profession is divided between research based and traditionalists. You attended life which is one of the worst chiropractic colleges out there so I dont expect you to be well informed.

Wow. After 35 years I know a little about this subject. When you graduate, go to law school. You will have hundreds of chiropractors referring to you. You can do law school in One and a half years if you go summers like chiropractic school. Paying back all student loans will not be a problem no matter how much you borrow if you go to law school. Dental school is easier than chiropractic school I was told by a chiropractor who went to both. It will be almost impossible to make enough money as a DC. The people who did the best were the super salesmen who only cared about money. If you don’t follow my advice, you will look back, years from now and say, “You were right, old hoss, you were right”.
