Oh, you make MW5 look pretty good, maybe I'll give it a try. I wasn't too captivated by MW5 itself, so I didn't really pay much attention to the Clans thing
@cinemaspace6 күн бұрын
That seems to be the general sentiment from everyone, which is really disappointing because Clans is a legitimate improvement over MW5 Mercs, which I think rubbed a lot of people wrong (including myself). Now, keep in mind, it’s not at all perfect, and you need already know baseline stuff like how OmmniPods work, because the game explains nothing, but other important stuff like the story, gameplay, level design, AI, much improved. This is one of those situations I think where PGI needs to put in some serious work to reshape their reputation, because they made an actual decent product this time, but players aren’t biting the hook based off previous experiences with their games.

great review. but why in the hell are you keeping ur gun so low when reloading. all you have to do is move it up a bit so its not in the belt radius. at some point you have to accept the mechanics the game gives you and accept that you are the problem if you dont work with them
@cinemaspace2 ай бұрын
It totally could be a PEBKAC issue! 😅 but I have long gangly arms, so naturally I do stuff with them a bit lower than most people I guess? Regardless, I still maintain that the pouch hitbox is too large. This also ties into my complaint about the calibration menu not allowing the player to position the pouch independently from the hip circles.
@andrebillups40792 ай бұрын
Agreed. This game feels bland and the same. It just feels like Zombies running at you and you shoot them. Sure the scenes look different but it feels like walking down a shooting gallery with him talking sometimes and sometimes it’s too much talking to me.
@cinemaspace2 ай бұрын
I can understand him talking too much being an annoyance to some players, especially those trying to play co-op. For me, I felt that it added to the theme of him being completely alone for so long and going slightly insane as a result.

Turns out I'm not the only one having issues with the weapon manipulation mechanics in this game. I remember having zero issues at all in Pavlov but reloading in AZS2 is such a chore. You can turn off advanced reloading but what's the point in playing VR if you're gonna halfass the reloading sequence? The story itself is worth it though. I swear you should continue playing. Not gonna spoil anything, but the twists are bonkers. Good video bro. You hit the nail on the head.
@cinemaspace2 ай бұрын
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah, the quick reload is a feature from the 1st game (and ATF), to help with reloading when holding the flashlight, but that’s less needed here as the flashlight (albeit useless) is attached to your chest, when IMO it should have been attached to your head. From what I’ve seen of the story, yeah it’s the strongest part of the game, and maybe after some time away, I’ll return to finish it. Appreciate that you didn’t spoil anything for myself and others. EDIT: aiming to reloading cuz that’s what I meant to type!
@alexbui13852 ай бұрын
@cinemaspace interesting, i've found the flashlight in AZS2 pretty serviceable and illuminates what i need it to, although, like you said, it's a bit dim. The one in the first game was okay but it's another thing i have to hold on to all the time which tires me out lol. Also due to the tilt angle i set for my handguns, holding the flashlight upside-down is super awkward and hard on my wrist.
@cinemaspace2 ай бұрын
@@alexbui1385 There should be a button on the controller (I don't remember which one) that'll flip the flashlight around to act as if you're holding it above your shoulder, which makes it far less strenuous, like shown in 17:45. Hopefully more games adopt this method when allowing you to hold flashlights (Looking at YOU, Phasmo!)

That’s a fair point. As someone who hasn’t used it, I can only speculate and compare based off my own experience with my Rift/Quest2. Given those factors, for me, the upgrade doesn’t seem worth it. For someone still using an earlier gen. headset, it might be a more appealing upgrade

Theres a lot more. Those are just the ones I could think on thr top of my head. Anx nany more single pkayer VR games

Also, as much as I love SteamVR, the VR market doesn't care about it. Sure, the graphics are better, and smoother franerate is great. But it seems like every game and game dev that talks about this is that you need to release a game on Quest because that's where 90% of players are. So I dont think the market wants SteamVR, sadly. They want something simple where they can grad and go and play. That's where the narket is and will seemingly continue to go. SteamVR doesn't get much support, while standalone VR continues to grow
@cinemaspace4 ай бұрын
That is indeed the situation, and it's complicated to speculate on whether or not that's a good thing for VR. Like I said in the video, it's great short-term, shows interest in the industry for gaming, but I'm not sure how long that interest will last without major improvements while keeping the cost within reasonable consumer ranges.
@blindpsychopath43684 ай бұрын
@cinemaspace I think the Quest 2 also hurt the cost for consumers since for a lot of people, that's the price they got into VR, making it the standard. It's probably one of the reasons we're getting the Quest 3S at $300 here soon.
@blindpsychopath43684 ай бұрын
Tbf the Quest 2 is the.cheapest VR headset anyone can buy. I've seen it around for $75 to $100 US. Now you can get a 3rd part head strap for the Quest 2 by kiwi or many other for about $30 if you want one with a battery then it'll be about $60. If you want a new vr interface then that's only $10 to $20. So all together as low as $120 or as high as $180. That's an amazing deal to get into VR by itself. Now IPD can't be helped on the Quest 2. Just try to get it as close as you can. Battery can go up to about 3 to 4hrs with a battery strap or swappable batteries that can make it last up to 6 to 8hrs. Again all that can be done in as low as $180US at most. If you want a better experience that has an ipd slider and isn't so front heavy then there is the Quest 3 that goes for as low as $300 I've seen it go for. So do the same thing that you did with the Quest 2, so it'll be as low as $350 or as high as $390. Which makes it run better, has better graphics and framerate, feels better, and wider fov. All for pretty cheap all considering. VR has come a long way and it is in the mainstream. The Quest has sold more than the Xbox series consoles at more than 20million sold as of 2022-23. VR is growing at a very fast rate, especially after 2020. TLDR: Quest 2 is cheap, Quest 3 you can get cheap, VR is growing fast. FIN.

It's just not great value right now. But hey, having not used one, I could be completely wrong, that's just what it seems like on paper.
@blindpsychopath43684 ай бұрын
@cinemaspace I mean getting a lot of games running at 90hz now with better graphics and the weight distribution as well as adjustable ipd slider are great imo. One of the reason why my friends couldn't get into VR with the Quest 2 was how front heavy and the ipd was in 3 set locations. But now with the Quest 3 they can both play VR till the battery dies which is a massive improvement. They aren't even VR people and they said they love the Quest 3
@tornado-n4g4 ай бұрын
I think you missed abit but when you started making the video that might have felt like a good choice, Leave the quest 2 alone. Its ancient tech with frenzel lenses and no passthorugh. I kinda feel like quest 3 got not enough processing power but the quest 2 def have. The wifi wireless to computer works great and it is usually not an extra cost because you probably already got a router that can deal with it. wireless pcvr it essential imo. That said, waiting for the quest 4.

Realistically I wanted this video released months ago, but that sadly didn't happen, so some topics here like the Quest 2 specially can feel outdated when talked about now. In saying that, I still feel it's better value per dollar compared to other headsets like the Q3. Things get really complicated when you start adding the PC into the mix, partly why this video took so long to get finished. (Quest 2 does actually have passthrough BTW, I'm guessing that was a typo?)

I think the difficulty of VR gaming is just how new it is. We're in the "experimental" age for a lot of hardware and trying to find the right rig, specs, visuals, gameplay, controls, the whole 9-yards, is very difficult. I have a 5600x with an RTX 3060, some games are okay to play like Half-Life:Alyx, VAIL VR, Into the Radius 1 & 2, but they're all at a lower setting, if not at the lowest setting. At that point, I would just buy the games on standalone, but I don't want to because of the limited battery life and the quality not being as good as PCVR games. I would say the most difficult part is even if I was to buy standalone games, I wouldn't be able to transfer any of those games unless I got ANOTHER headset from the same company. (This is why I like steam link and virtual desktop.) Lastly, games are a big part of the VR space, but how can anyone play the damn game if the headsets can't keep up with PCVR variation with the stutters, bugs, and tracking issues? I know some games are perfect for standalone, but a lot of people are on standalone and it's not the best performing headsets to use in this day of age. And that can make games very limited on what they can put into the game for if they push too much, they'll have a 15fps stuttering mess of what you may call a "video game", but it becomes an actual garbage bag full of mold and leftovers from 2 months ago. For any game to thrive, they must have a watered down variation of their VR game put onto Meta, Pico, or Steam Link for it to sell. (For the American market anyhow.) Sadly, that's where we're at for VR as of 2024. Maybe the next 4 years, we'll see a change or maybe PC specs will become cheap enough to be sold for PCVR players to thrive. But we'll have to see.
@cinemaspace4 ай бұрын
You make some good points, I had a small paragraph about the emerging VR exclusivity, but cut it due to time, but essentially yes, a lot of people have a standalone because it's cheaper and easier to setup than an entire PCVR set, but now you're locked into that ecosystem, and with its limitations, might not entice users to move over to something better like PCVR, because given what they've experienced with standalone, they might not see it's value.
@GameJunky5133 ай бұрын
@EGoat I think you underestimate what the masses want. For years PCVR had games with great graphics made for VR like Lone Echo, Asgards wrath, Stormlands etc. It didn't move the needle. It wasn't until VR went standalone that we saw more of a mass adoption. The average person isn't interested in spending thousands on a PC and headset to play a few VR games. The Quest line did good because it's the console equivalent of VR. It's a streamlined OS with plug and play capability. It has no wires and especially with the Q3 it's comfortable to wear for long play sessions and the new lenses don't give the eye strain the old fresnel lenses did. PCVR was always a stepping stone. The end goal is to have people in these things everyday, everywhere. Your never gonna get that hooked to a PC. Price 2 Performance will undoubtedly get better as the tech improves. We are still I the very early stages of standalone VR, with Meta only being on the 3rd iteration. Give it time and you'll see why this is undoubtedly the future of VR.

Interesting critique/analysis, I enjoyed it a lot! SS4 can be summarized as "Thanks Alen Ladavac: The Game." Multiple bad decisions on top of each other that culminated in an extensive development time and mess of a premise that has left the series with a lack of clear identity. Even Siberian Mayhem, which tried to repair some of these problems, is caught in the clutches of SS4's limitations, when the series is screaming to be modernized in so many different ways. Funnily enough, I ended up appreciating a lot of things BFE attempted tonally after seeing what SS4 delivered. Additional notes: 1:03:14 fun fact, there are animations for single-fired rifle shots left over in the game's files, but they bug out after continuous fire, leading to audio/visual problems. So the quick solution they used was to default to a "firing multiple times" animation to simulate the effect of continuous fire. 1:13:32 this is an oversight tied specifically to this side-mission, which is amusing, because you can technically say it's working as intended, lowering the game audio so you can focus on the NPC audio. But the game also treats it as if you're always in range of the NPC's sounds, so it lowers the volume every time a voiceline plays. I've never seen the issue with the minigun firing sound you showed after though, that's pretty funny. 1:27:15: this game takes place in the 22nd century. But you'd be forgiven for thinking it's supposed to be the 21st century since that's what it resembles the most. 1:28:44 this is now explained away by every game existing in its own timeline, because Serious Sam 4 has set that standard with the concept of timeline-hopping Future Sam. So while the assumed order of games is semi-correct, they're no longer technically connected at all. 1:36:00 Charlie is a girl. But you'd only know this if you listened to cut side-mission dialogue where Professor Kiesel reveals it as such. It was supposed to occur in the Carcassonne level, which would have involved some type of puzzle referencing The Talos Principle.
@cinemaspace Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply! I am glad you enjoyed the video. Interesting point on the rifle's animation, that explains the "double fire" issue. Regarding the 21st/22nd century detail. I went by what SS3's intro says: "By the middle of the 21st century", and guessed that it's somewhere before that, although that probably just meant that 21st is when they discovered the Time Lock, which I am just now realizing kind of makes sense. They should definitely have made it more obvious to the player that Charlie is a female Arachnoid. I just checked the wiki page which does indeed say so, I never thought to check during script writing because there was no indication that I needed to, my bad. Changing her appearance or at least having someone mention that in-game should have been a priority.

Great piece! In VR it should be all about hanging out with friends and new people. Depending on what game you play, this can be great. But I also think we’re in the early days of VR and because of this the tech is limited. I would like to be able to have facial expressions and more controllable body actions in VR. Because of the tech right now, I don’t think it’s possible. More social interactions like these would have a real benefit when we play these games in VR. I wonder what VR will be like in say 5-10 years 🤔
@cinemaspace2 жыл бұрын
You make some good points! VR as a whole is much much more enjoyable when you have others to interact with. The shenanigans you can get into are just great. It's expensive, but the Vive actually has these little "Nodes" you can wear which act as trackers independent from the headset & wands, so it's possible to perform full-body motion capture. I don't think we have any games capable of supporting that hardware yet, though. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure we already have face and eye tracking hardware/software in devices such as phones. So the tech is there, just not built-in to the headsets, which would be really cool and add that extra layer of immersion to VR.
