This tutorial is absolutely insane! Never seen anyone explain color replacement in Capture One like this. Kudos to you! Hope more creatives find your video and learn from it!

Your videos are so good - I just finished watching your "i" menu video and you don't use a wasted word, but the words you do use are very clear and precise. I was able to follow along with my just purchased Z5. I've just started this video and it's the same, very clear and precise, and I look forward very much to finishing it! I just subscribed to this channel and I almost never subscribe to anything. I've watched a few other Z5 videos but they seem to be done rather carelessly compared to what you have here. Thank you!

This is what camera lesson videos should be. Concise and straight to the point. Most other videos contain a lot of jargon and irrelevant information.

What's the difference between taking a picture of a quarter with a 1:1 macro lens, or a zoom lens, zoomed to make the quarter fit the screen to the same size as the 1:1 ratio macro lens? If the answer is nothing, because I would get the same result, then why would I need to purchase a macro lens? Thank you for your help. I'm trying to figure out if I can do macro photography with the lenses I already have, (16-35 24-70 & 70-200) I do not have a macro lens yet, but I'm thinking about buying the SONY FE 90mm F2.8 G OSS full-frame lens. Thank you.

One more difference that I've noticed and that I miss in Capture One is being able to filter on folders. You can do that in lightroom.

2024 here… TAMRONs 17-35 is still a fantastic lens when adapted to mirrorless cameras. Pair it with the companion 35-150 and your camera bag is solid.

I started using C1 at 7, and ceased using catalogues soon after.. Catalogues, I found, were too slow, and I preferred sessions which I can move around using any tools I like, including commandline. I switched to Adobe products in 2019 as I became a TAFE students and they were required. At some point I wrote my own import tools as I didn't especially like either one. However, C1 has vastly superior options for creating path names, it can incorporate many elements of the EXIF data, I can even use the camera serial number! As far as I can remember, nothing allows me to move from camera to final destination without stopping midway asn asking, '"Are you sure?" I think Photo Mechanic, but nothing else, does all available cards in one go.

IMO capture one does a much better job at keeping an overall good image. Lightroom seems to have better highlight recovery at first glance but it looks blotchy and very unsmooth if that makes sense. You can make another layer in C1 and further bring down highlights but I think you'll start getting a blotchy and poorly toned highlight area.

So why aren't you using the Whites slider as well? At least with C1 I find highlight recovery a balance of highlight and whites tweaking.

You are certainly taking your time getting to the point: Chanel is about the transmission frequensy, so you won't interfere with other Photographers/Cameras. Group is about setting the flash power of a group, such as: Group A= Key light, Group B= Fill Light, Group C=Background Light, Group D= Hair Light, etc. Now we know.

Regarding the UV filters "darkening" by reducing exposure: Well, duh. You're eliminating some of the UV light, thus reducing exposure. In the "detail" section, I would have liked a comparison between near detail and far detail.

Thanks for the video. If you wanted to increase the exposure by more than four stops in C1, you could first increase it by four, and then add a mask to the whole image, and increase it further. There's no limit.

I'm no expert, but I don't know if the sliders in C1 are actual "stops". I usually just treat them as indicators/numbers - not stops.

Back in 1987 I had saved for a Nikon 180mm f/2.8 ED. On the third day of owning this lens, I accidentally bumped and cracked the protective Nikon L37c filter that was mounted on the lens. For me, that expensive filter still saved me a lot of money. To this day I still use UV Filters.

You can not do a control test like this outside, where the light constantly changes. I will continue to use a quality UV filter on my EXPENSIVE lenses. It's cheaper to replace a $100 filter than the front lens element of a lens, which includes shipping charges to and from, labor and materials, which can get quite costly and you will be without the lens for at least one month or more.
@99muddy993 ай бұрын
This test has clearly caused you some cognitive dissonance. I too, like to think that my expensive filters are necessary. In my case, I have somewhat of a mixture of brands/prices as I am aware of how brands are marketed. Although not scientific, I found the test very informative, and like many photographers, had wondered about the effects of adding glass. As a counterpoint to your argument, the prevailing light conditions at the time of testing the most expensive filter, may have favoured it over the two less-expensive filters. We don’t know. What we can assume, generally speaking, is that UV filters do not significantly degrade a lens. Having said that, neither multiple lenses or UV filters were used. The test wasn’t scientific, but it addressed an anxiety I have had concerning resident UV filters; I’ll continue using them, and I will buy a respected brand at a reasonable price.
