Richardson was perfectly positioned to catch that line drive. He played McCovey to pull and was standing practically on the outfield grass. If he had played at his normal position, it would have been a win for the Giants.

32:43 Really? If only it were not so expensive to record color in those days. Even to watch. A color TV cost about $300 in 1960. That would be more than $3,000 in 2024 money.

8:07 Reggie is still the all time leader in strikeouts. Interesting the commentator said that Joe DiMaggio (As hitting coach in 1969) stated that Reggie would swing after bad pitches. When he retired in 1987, Reggie was just shy of 2600 career strikeouts. Nowadays, players strike out much more frequently thanks to many pitchers throwing 100+ fastballs and nasty sliders. But they break easily, and pitch counts prevent most pitches from throwing a complete game.

And boos for Tom Seaver? Rocky came out that same year but the booers didn’t deserve Rocky being from that place.

A shame that in 1985 the Cards got rid of these baby blues and only use them for throwback occasions

There lies a ballpark that opened one year before Ebbetts Field. Existed for over a decade after Brooklyn's final out in '57. Saw several National League championship teams. A future star by the name of Pete Rose. And some great moments captured on first-generation videotape.

This was Yankee Stadium before the 1974 - 1975 remodel, which made the Yankees play at Shea Stadium, home of the Mets. It’s rare to find actual footage of premodel Yankee Stadium, so this is a vintage classic.

I was so furious at the Dodgers after this game. I threw a broom halfway across the courtyard at my dorm. It amazed me they actually came back and won that series.

20 years later, the Minnesota Twins would eventually meet the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series with the Twins winning the series in 7 games. The first of only 2 World Series Championships the Twins have won with Kirby Puckett and Kent Hrbek. The Red Sox, after winning the 1967 Pennant, would meet the Cardinals in the World Series and similar to 1946 the Red Sox would be defeated in 7 games in the 1967 World Series. Later in time, the Red Sox would pay back the Cardinals for these World Series defeats mentioned above by defeating them in 2004(in a sweep) and in 2013.

As a long time Dodgers fan I loved and respect the old rivalry between the Dodgers and the Reds in the 1970's. The was the best days of the old N.L West . Never again will you witness classic baseball like the old N.L West.

They say Munson screamed, cried and pleaded for rescue at an extreme volume as his body slowly burned while he was trapped in the wreckage but fully conscious and thrashing about. "Get me out, GET ME OUT!" his voice echoing as he tried to escape the burning plane but there was nothing anyone could do. This indicates that Munson was: 1. Conscious: He was aware of his surroundings and situation as his flesh burned for over 4 minutes. 2. In immense pain: The severity of his burns and injuries caused immense and unbearable suffering. 3. Desperate: Munson's loud and persistent cries for help reflect his urgent need to escape the flames. -"Thurman's cries were a mix of pain, fear, and desperation." - Emergency responder (Akron Beacon Journal, August 3, 1979) - "Munson's screams were blood-curdling... He was begging for help." (Emergency responder) - "The screams, the cries for help, it's a sound that stays with you forever." - Jerry Anderson, passenger who survived the crash (Sports Illustrated, 2019) - "Thurman was yelling, 'Get me out! Get me out!' It was heartbreaking." - David Hall, passenger who survived the crash (New York Daily News, 2019) - "The plane was engulfed in flames, and Thurman's voice was loud, pleading for help." - Emergency responder (Akron Beacon Journal, August 3, 1979) - "Munson's desperate cries still echo in my mind." - Witness (Cleveland Plain Dealer, August 4, 1979). A final hushed and resigned "Help me Dave" were his very last words as the flames engulfed his upper body and began scorching the flesh from his face, his trademark mustache and lips suddenly melting away whilst his eyeballs boiled until they popped. Finally, he inhaled and tasted the putrid toxic flames and fumes and was released from this life. He was only 32.
