The first meaning that comes to mind for purple roses to me is either mythical or royal yet his very first assumption was love. Red would accomplish that and would add to the little details of the color in his design.

His little assumption for the rose meaning was meant to be off, the little guy did spend his time on ducks instead of gardening after all, but thank you for the info on purples meaning, I'll add it to my scrapbook! ^^
