Stewart had the fast line/launch. For pure speed nobody could touch him.

Cool cool cool, I was there, raced every Red Bud from 1974 to 1978 and attended every AMA pro race held at the track and camped over night. WOW. Thanks... Gotta love District 14 and even have a Red Bud District 14 qualifier patch from a hat to go to amateur Nationals from Red Bud.

I’ve been looking for this race for the last 10 years! I watched it on vhs along with other Rick Johnson races like the David Bailey vs Rick Johnson “you can’t touch him with a 20 foot poll” race. I wish someone would post that entire vhs because it was my childhood, I watched it everyday before school back in the early 1990’s.

75 LA Colliseum was just a hell of a televised event. So many of the sport's stars were in that event, and they were in their prime. The sport really reached a peak on that night.

What dumb dumb ? He should forfeit even more possible positions during a race for a championship to check the welfare of the dude who jumped on his back and cost him the win just after making a clean pass ?

I remember watching this race as a 21 yr old, seems like yesterday. I miss the days when we knew almost every rider on the track. Magoo Chandler was my absolute favorite what a wild man he was. 🐾✌️🇺🇸

I remember going to Indian Dunes in 84 and 85 with my new 84 RM125, and at that time the Shadow Glen track had added a very gnarly triple jump that sadly had paralyzed a few guys. I had also been involved in another tragedy at the trails section there, when a neighborhood acquaintance of mine drove my 82 TT 250 off of a 250' cliff, which unfortunately and savagely took his life, and left a widow and two kids behind.

@@omardaniel1 I think I’ve seen them all. I would have to look but there’s one that’s kind of silly but it actually did show some of Rick’s best racing. He was the man who took Honda to the top and I just think he deserves a professional biography done on him

Exactly! Thats what’s going on but they need to have more incentive to ride for blood. Maybe a large bonus for 1,2 and 3 place. Football players have no reason to destroy themselves because they get the money up front and want to enjoy it. Also generation Z is now racing and has been for a while and they are just soft and fragile men. They come from the give me a hug generation instead of the I’ll kick your ass generation
