Schwab international is limited to fews countries, yes you can get the credit card but it's not a checking account, it is using Citi bank. I see it as a safe store of dollars and you can keep your funds on ETFs or stocks.

The Schwab account you mentioned would have been perfect for me as my income is from trading. I set the account up but they wont issue a Visa debit card to Australian residents. Still great information though.

Excellent and helpful video, thanks a lot! One question, do you have to pay a monthly fee with Charles Schwab?

US CITIZENS are cursed with FACTA and tons of restrictions on banking and investment. When US non-residents get away with economic murder and pay no taxes!

Actually, residents of any of the 113 FATCA compliant countries around the world have to deal with the exact same restrictions even if we have nothing to do with the US 🥲

Hello Myles thank you for all the info. I just opened the Charles Schwab international Brokerage account. The tricky thing is that the customer service says that International brokerage accounts does not offer bank accounts such saving and checking but they send you the debit card. So How does this account work as a bank if they say they cannot offer bank account to non US resident?

So I got the brokerage account open from Trinidad 🇹🇹 then I tried to link my interactive brokers to it as either a savings or checking account and it won’t work . Did some digging and the account is a brokerage account only . I did the form and submitted to get it made to a checking account so I can get the card and it’s under review I’ll update in a few business days . Hopefully I’ll be able to link it then

I opened a TD Ameritrade account to be able to invest in the stock market. Now that it's a Charles Schwab account I'm excited to realize I'll have more functionality. I can't wait to look into the debit card.

The moment you open a bank account in the U.S. and conduct transactions through that account, you are subject to US laws for every transaction you make, including the USA PATRIOT Act. Therefore, just be sure that your business and the people you deal with are legitimate and that you have not committed fraud. If you use money from your US bank account to conduct business in a country that is sanctioned or subject to IEEPA laws, you can be charged by the US government. In addition, you could be the subject of an investigation and never know it. As a non-resident you do not enjoy all of the rights as a US citizen and therefore are easy prey for the government if they want to get to someone you may have conducted a transaction with.

This is a great video, but most will move or attempt to structure something to save on taxes and don't consider the entire picture. Those are great points that most never cover.

As a Canadian, one cannot open a personal account at Charles Schwab. I believe it is because Canadian regulations are far stricter in brokerage and banking services separation regulations.
