The mine in Utah, I've been watching it as a kid. The tailings are now larger/higher than the surrounding mountains, and has buried two old towns at this point.

Diamonds are actually fairly cheap as a raw material in smaller sized. It's only the larger diamond crystals that are worth the really big bucks. There is also the DeBeers diamond cartel that artificially inflate diamond prices. The thing that make a diamond worth anything are the cutting and the internal color and clarity. Gem quality diamonds. All the rest are classified as industrial grade.

Miners like these make way more money from the job itself then they could make going through the hassle of trying to sell raw diamond. Plus diamond value is basically a scam anyway. We can make diamonds. The value is 100% based on false scarcity and the cut/quality of the craftsmanship in the jewelry.

It wouldn't surprise me if the ROI on these types of machines is arpund a couple months depending on the mine. Remmeber these companies are worth 10s - 100s of billions

Ok this is not completely true. Frist, almost all "Gem Quality" facetable stones are rare according to size, clarity, and color. Second, the depositions that diamonds form in like a kimberlite are rare ( think about it, have you ever found a rough diamond on the ground?). Last, man made diamond are distinguished by lack of inclusion and lack of fluorescence in most cases. In conclusion, man made diamond are usually not as durable and require a lot of energy to produce so they are not exactly environment friendly either so to say that a natural large, clear, orange or red diamond is not rare is simple not true.

Buying raw diamonds means you have to steal raw diamonds.. and no one buys raw diamonds and if they do, then they are diamond dealers and youll be caught that way before you could even sell them. Also raw diamonds are not worth more than refined or cut diamonds. Stealing a raw diamond just isnt a smart move.

Even in a gold mine where the raw ore would be worth a lot more than raw diamonds people usually dont steal. Because 1 in mining salaries are high enough that whatever you could steal without getting caught would be insignificant compared to your annual income. Since you also get checked so would most likely be able to only smuggle very small quantities and they would notice if a significant ammout disappeared. Plus rn diamonds value are dropping so yeah not worth it to risk getting barred from one of the best paying industries

Instead of "spending millions" to undermine lab grown diamonds.. whydoesnt debears open its vaults and flood the market to make diamonds cheaper.. They are holding on to massive loads of diamonds to keep the price up artificially...
