I'd add a few other suggestions (at 31.12.14) for anyone feeling lonely: 1. Get a penpal (via a reputable site to ensure your safety) OR if you have a friend/relative who lives some distance from you, write them a letter (not text or email) once a month so you have something to focus on and can tell them what you've done that month 2. Get a voluntary job at a garden centre, your local thrift shop, a bookshop, library, cafe etc so you are around other people for a few hours as this will improve your social skills if you're an introvert - and people will also get to know you 3. Walk someone's dog. There are always friends, family members or neighbours for whom dog walking is a chore. It will be exercise for both you and the dog - and people ALWAYS talk to other people with a dog! 4. Establish a routine. I go to a designated Cafe once a fortnight and do my emails there. The servers have got to know me, what I have to drink etc and now come and chat to me and ask what I'm working on. ROUTINE builds interaction 5. If you're not tech-savvy, GET tech-savvy! I know a lot of people bash social media but if you can watch a few videos on KZbin and learn so much about topics you've never even thought of! I am obsessed with house tour videos and have toured houses, flats, mansions, countryside mansions, villas, houseboats etc from the comfort of my armchair - the world is fascinating! 6. If you can't find a club or society that tickles your fancy, consider starting one yourself (deep breath - you can do it!). I was very under-whelmed when I joined a local book club because the genre of books under discussion wasn't one that interested me, so I started 'Crime Club' where all we read are mystery/crime/thriller/whodunits and people are clamouring to become members (there's even a waiting list!) 7. What in your home can you sell? We all buy too much and our houses are choc-full of clutter, so have a good clear-out, sell what you can, donate what you can't sell and your mind will become 'clutter-free' like your home 8. Considering starting a blog. If you're shy or don't fancy being front-facing, look at something like Blogspot or Substack where you can just write without appearing in person - it'll make you try different things simply to have something to write about. This young woman (whose channel I have just found today, 31.12.24) should be COMPULSORY VIEWING because if she were, there would be less people with depression in the world in which we live. I am significantly older than she, but everything she says is valid and relatable (having experienced loneliness in my own life) and if you take her advice, your life will get significantly more manageable. Kudos to her.

I'm a 64 male & live in a moble home. I lock my lawn stuff in a shed. I use the locks that come with the home. I have home owners ins. I have a propery indentification system with my ins. co. for my TV & computer. I have a dog who will alert me if somebody is outside. I carry a pistol with a reload, a hand held flashlight, OC gel, folding knife, & my cell phone. Alarms & cameras are a wast of money. When seconds count the police are minutes away. Your stuff will get stolen before the police arrive. When I park my locked car & anybody looks in my window, there's nothing to see. Empty seats & floor boadrs with nothing in my cup holders. Physical security doesn't make me safe, it gives me time to get ready for the fight!

We were there for my Fiancé’s cousin’s wedding, and he proposed the day after. We went to a beautiful beach for a photoshoot. I thought it was a group family photoshoot arranged by his Mom for the Christmas card. We took family photos first, and then it was time for the couple's photos. He went down on one knee, and I was in shock. I ugly cried, his family were watching and crying, and it took me 15 seconds to say yes because I was overwhelmed with emotions 🥹 It’s been the happiest moment of my life (…so far) 😉
