You can add some flow aid to the water and you will get something in between soft body and acrylic ink.

Such good tips! A few years ago, when I was using acrylic inks, I learnt the hard way (too many bubbles) that rapid violent shaking was Not the way to go 😅🥲 It's a great video!! A good reminder and solution :) ❤️ Beautiful hairstyle, by the way!

Love this book. I, too, read it in the 90's and followed every step to the end. It helped me "become" the artist that I was. The Morning Pages tied in with a Journal I was already keeping, and still keep to this day. What a wonderful gift from Julia Cameron! For my artist dates, I like to take myself out to breakfast or lunch and then go on a hike or to the botanical garden. Nature plays a key role in my work so being in gardens, among plants, among wildlife, is vital.

Thanks so much for this. A few years ago I got a paint set from Liquitex designed for mixing, and couldn't figure out why I couldn't get a rich violet using Quinacridone Crimson and Phthalo Blue Green Shade. Gradually I figured out that the addition of the Red Shade variety did a much better job. And judging from your demo, Ultramarine Blue does, too.
@MicheleTheberge22 күн бұрын
Glad I could help! Interesting that they put the green shade in there. Maybe because it makes a better green? I have always lean towards the phthalo blue red shade. In fact I’ve been downright addicted to it at various times in my practice.🤣🤣🤣

Imagine my delight to have this show up yesterday! I looked for the last thing that showed up - it was a whole year ago! Sigh. The algorithms are off for me, it seems. I LOVE color theory/mixing/paint-smearing!!! I have never tried the Quin blue violet! Years ago, I had some purple/violets that were fugitive, so when I got some Dioxazine Purple, that's where I stopped looking! LOL! I can be such an art-supply addict that I have to restrain myself.

@MicheleThebergeАй бұрын
All depends upon the color and the type of fabric. As I mention in the video, some pigments are staining pigments and those are had to get out even in the acrylic polymer they are dispersed in comes out with the brush cleaner.

I did my First Plein air painting in acrylic on a bright cold sunny and windy day. I worked on it at home and was shocked to see how dark it appeared. That is not brightness ,level that I had painted, so now to go back and make corrections as I work at completion. Will be getting into oils eventually, and planning to use acrylics in the under painting.
@MicheleThebergeАй бұрын
Thanks for sharing. You bring up some important things to consider in plain air painting. So when you got it home after working outdoors it sounds like you are saying it appeared darker. I’m wondering if it was not just the paint drying darker but the big difference in light from indoors to outdoors.

do you think this could work if the tacs were on a canvas?
@MicheleThebergeАй бұрын
Yes, but it takes much bigger and stronger magnets. I’m using this in my studio on a project right now the canvases are small though - about 8 x 10 in (20 x 25 cm) so not so heavy. I had to stack 2 of those size super strong magnets to get them to hold. I think the place I linked in the description sells different sizes and strengths of magnets. A heavy canvas several meters or feet long might not hold but if you try it I would love to know! My guess is a medium sized canvas 1 meter (3 feet) or less would hold with the magnets spaced every few inches around all 4 edges.

Great video! I subscribed. Quick question, is the Pen you used a specific brand and type?
@MicheleThebergeАй бұрын
Thank you for your kind comment and for subscribing! To mark on the canvas board I used a Sharpie brand fine tip permanent marker. A trick I used to do when I was making lots of these types of canvas board samples for teaching is paint 1 -2 extra gesso layers on the area where I was writing with the sharpie to smooth out the texture of the canvas a bit and make writing easier and more legible.

Is it possible to paint on cotton and linen fabric, or does it have to be thick canvas? I’m just thinking of this procedure - will that work? : Paint on stretched Cotton on a frame with acrylics, and then seal it afterwards with Varnist - all over the canvas, to protect the fabric and the painting? I’m wondering if the edges that is stretched on the frame might tear or if uv light from the sun might give the unprotected fabric some miscolour over time? Thank you so much for these videos! 😀🙏
@MicheleTheberge2 ай бұрын
You are so welcome and thanks for watching ! It’s possible to paint on any textile that will accept acrylic paint. The paint will behave differently on different fabrics. You are thinking creatively and I believe it’s a sign to test your ideas! As far as your fabric discoloring over time from UV light, you can run some tests on fabric scraps tape them to a window and check over time compare it to a swatch that wasn’t exposed to direct light. There are varnishes with UV light inhibitors but these ingredients lose their potency over time. Best practice is to not expose your painting to direct UV light for extended periods. Think of how museums treat their paintings.

Thank you for this video - this is exactly what I was looking for. I am on a journey to try to implement raw canvas as a part of the painting, and I am trying to learn how to do that. There’s SO many gorgeous fabrics that would look stunning combined with a painting! Have you seen @victoriarosepark and @sydswisher? It’s so creative how they use that. Ive bought and just tried clear gesso - for oil paint on the canvas. But I had to cover all the canvas with paint - because that gesso was not clear at all! It dulled the fabric so much and it looked horrible (it is Amsterdam transparant gesso). So I am happy to find out that I can get that effect with acrylics that I am going for! :😀 I will subscribe and see what other good advice you have - its so nice you make videos on this🙏

Wow! Thanks so much for saying that. It really means a lot to me. My intent is to serve others with this channel so it’s so helpful to know when I have achieved that. You may appreciate the handout linked in my most recent video showing translucent, opaque and transparent colors. I intend to do a video at some point going more deeply into this topic as it has been so helpful in my own painting.
