Loved your reaction! I teared up at the cape scene too. Its so beautiful how Glinda completes Elphaba's iconic look without even meaning to. The hat was a prank, but the cape was given with love. Part 2 is going to leave me a wreck.

I would rock with Sleep Token if the band found a real lead singer. The vocals are almost worse than fingernails on a chalkboard.

Started watching but stopped because you were spoiling things that I didn’t know about the future story! You should really add a spoiler alert to this for people who haven’t watched the broadway play, I didn’t know the thing you said about the Prince. So disappointed!

The thing I appreciate about Maximus' arch is how the whole movie is testing him on the 4 virtues mentioned in the conversation between Marcus and Commodus in the beginning.

You are the first reactor I've seen do Wicked that has a deep love, appreciation, and knowledge of the source material and it's so refreshing. I appreciate all their views too but as a longtime fan of Wicked (stage and book) as well as Oz (movie and books) it's WONDERFUL seeing it from somebody else who has such a deep love. You saw all the little nods to the various source materials others never pointed out. I think you are the only one that mentioned hearing Over the Rainbow in the beginning! I absolutely loved this video. I'm so excited for part 2. I'm going to have to take a whole box of tissues to the theater

57:12 I actually watched a video kind of talking about the history of the witch character and the idea is that witches were talked about a lot in a time when women were housewives that did a lot of domestic work, like keeping house. So the "character" of a witch holds a broom and uses a cauldron like a housewife would in older times, but in a more sinister way. And this is something that I think personally, but witch hats tend to me remind me of classic Puritan hats but they look more distorted and crooked, which probably also has some meaning behind it as well.

What I want to know: Does Chistery actually watch birds, or was that a story he coined for her to do the spell? Does Ms Gulch have a story worth telling? What was the relationship like between Melina (the mother), her husband, and her secret lover? FYI I already know their identity.

I completely understood why you had to pause at the end of Defying Gravity. It's SUCH a powerhouse song and, as wonderful it is on stage, to have that visual with it was so very overwhelming. Your video has been my favorite reaction, truly.

I like all the subtleties that you pointed out. Wicked is a big favorite of mine. I love what they did with movie. It became an intimate experience because of the bigness, being able to see the expressions, where stage has to offer it up differently. Not really knowing the work of either women, especially Ariana, I was hugely impressed with their performances and how they inhabited their characters so well. They were perfect and they were perfect together.. I have seen a few of these reactions. I thought I saw my favorite yesterday, but I was wrong. Yours gave us a lot of information because you love the show. Very good to show non musical theatre people. .. and even those of us who are.

Second comment. As I understand this, both parts 1 and 2 have been filmed at the same time. And Part Two is currently in the editing stages. So for this being released later this year will become a blessing, allowing this film a chance to breathe to deliver the rest of the story. Of all the movies I've seen over the past few years, I consider this the best I've seen in years. Looking forward to Wicked For Good.♥ Favorite parts was The Wizard and I, Popular and of course Defying Gravity. Such a wonderful film☺

It was wonderful to hear from your perspective especially with your background in theater and film. This gives a nice context to your reactions. I never saw the stage play and had only a basic familiarity with the book source material. Curiously, it was the trailer of 7 months ago that sold me on wanting to see this. Loved it in a large auditorium with other fans and then got the VOD. Thanks again for this. Just made my day☺

The part where Glinda says "give me my leg" was an adlib by Ariana that Cynthia insisted be left in because she found it so funny. Ariana tells the story in an interview.

It was the slowed down music to Ms Gulch's theme aka the Wicked Witch theme when Elphaba and Fiyero were rescuing the cowardly lion cub and that is supposed to be the bicycle with the basket that Ms Gulch used to take Toto

I think what I love the most about your reaction is that you weren't so harsh and over analytical about what Chu did to let him, and his marvelous crew had to do to make this wonderful film come to life. I hate to say this about avid Wicked fans of the books and stage play but those of them who made a first-time reaction were just too insufferable to get through with their reactions. I found the film decisions to be practical and very much worth it. While I understand that most fans of the stage play were annoyed and upset that Defying Gravity was broken up into sections, you used the word "acts", I believe it allowed the song to breathe, allowing us in our seats to take in the moment in chunks. Many who know the song know how powerful it is on its own, but this is a film adaptation, and I honestly don't mind the breaks in-between one bit. There is zero complaints from me about this film considering how much more awful it could have been. This first film is worth every minute and so re-watchable and I'm so eager to see Part 2. Thanks for being more kind about the film.

I blabber any time I see Ozdust and their dance, but the moment I find most magical is in the grotto when the light plays on the crystals and Cynthia's natural tone show's through. First, it is absolutely beautiful but it is also the best middle fingers to anyone who brought race into the casting suggesting the actress should be white.

. I think animals have been heavily present for a long time in the world of Oz, which doesn't shock the people at all. But a green-skinned human is a big deal to them, since they haven't seen something like that before. . The way you reacted to this movie and notice all the details, nods, and easter eggs really made LOVE and APPRECIATE it even more!!! I can't imagine how you felt as a long time fan of this iconic play watching this adaptation. This must've shocked you to the bone and impacted you more than I did!! . Everyone behind this masterpiece has truly put all their hardwork and energy to make it worth watching, which paid off so much!!! They deserve all the love and praise from the cast, music team, set designers, editors, costume/wardrobe department, and especially the director, Jon Chu. His vision for Wicked truly made it WONDERFUL AND GRAND. It pissed me off that the academy did him dirty for not nominating him for Best Director. I'm hopeful that he'll finally get nominated next year!!! . HOLDING SPACE for Part 2. I'm manifesting that it'll change me FOR GOOD!!

I see what they did with the score, but I still don’t think it deserves the Oscar nomination. It’s writing and Orchestrating music that all ready exists. If there was a category for Best Score from another medium, this would win, hands down. If it were original, you and the audience would not be singing along with it. And I know you are going to think I hated it. I didn’t. I loved it! I just disagree as an Academy member that it is original.

My parents both are history buffs but their time periods of interests don’t cross. My mom was really big into the Civil War & both World Wars. When we moved from OK to LA the place we moved to was right outside of Ruston, LA. The state school there was a Japanese Encampment. When we were learning about World War II I was the only person who had any idea about what was less than 20 minutes away from our school. History is uncomfortable but ignoring it, trying to erase the reminders, refusing to discuss it only opens the door for repetition. I’ve watched many of these reviews but I have to say you had a grasp of so many minor details that were so much bigger than their moments within this film. I thank you for pushing through even though since you’ve visited it was more intense for you, than most, that see this film. You touched historyz
