I'm currently reading Tress of the Emerald Sea and it's my first Brandon Sanderson. I've seen a lot of people recommend it as a good one to start with, so I think it's good as a stand alone. But again, it's my first Sanderson so take that for what it's worth. 🤣

I know you said you prefer a physical book, but I really would recommend you getting a kindle and getting a kindle unlimited subscription it has helped me reach my reading goals way faster than I expected!!
