Icecold showers are amazing because they allow your body to feel and deferentiate between real sensations and what your mind is percieving to be pain. Im having one right now but jumping straight into an icecold shower for around 30 seconds has helped a lot 😅 youll be okay, I promise. You'll get through it 100% (they can last up to several hours, do not worry, this is also "normal"). Edit: i am not a doctor also lol just a fellow panic attacker :)

This was my journey. TW: kinda descriptive Self harm is a hard journey for me. I started 3 years ago, at 9, barely even knowing the concept. I’d just stab myself with scissors every time my parents screamed at me and hit me. I had tiny cuts along my thigh from those times. I last relapsed on around April 20th. Every time I relapse, I pray it’s the last time and it’s not. My worst relapse was stabbing myself with a razor on November 4th, 2023, where I bled all over the bathroom and my parents thought I got my first period, but I lied and said I had no idea where the blood came from. I even had to use an oversized bra to stop the bleeding. I have scars on my wrists, arms, and legs, but they show how strong I am and im determined to try not to relapse again and get my life together. Thanks for making the video. It gave me hope.

Thank you for sharing your story with us - it's brave of you and it sounds like you've had a lot going on. It's okay to relapse - it's a natural part of recovery, and with the right support relapses can become less and less frequent over time. Be kind to yourself when it does happen. If you'd like more support, you're welcome to head over to our online community to chat to other young people who deal with similar issues: community.themix.org.uk/ You can also reach out to Self Injury Support for help with self-harm: www.selfinjurysupport.org.uk/ Or visit Childline for more general support with whatever might be going on for you: www.childline.org.uk/get-support/ Stay safe - you got this. ⭐ V and the team

@TheMixUK
@TheMixUK 8 ай бұрын
Hey there, Panic attacks can feel frightening even to the point of feeling like you are dying or having a heart attack. However, they usually pass and are harmless. But if you feel you are concerned at all about your panic attack symptoms, particularly if they are frequent and breathing exercises don't seem to help, then it's best to talk to your doctor or go to A&E. They will be able to reassure you if it is a panic attack or help you to find the right cause and treatment, if it isn't a panic attack. If you'd like more information on panic attacks, feel free to check out our articles on panic attacks www.themix.org.uk/mental-health/stress/panic-attacks-5602.html and what to do about them www.themix.org.uk/mental-health/anxiety-ocd-and-phobias/im-having-a-panic-attack-5819.html If you're looking for more support, and you are between the ages of 13-25 and live in the UK, feel free to join our online community community.themix.org.uk/ for a safe place to chat and get support from other young people. Hey there, It sounds like panic attacks are longer lasting and more severe for you. In general, panic attacks might not last too long but this can be different depending on your circumstances. This may sound stupid but I really appreciate this video. I feel a lot of times with myself I’m in a fight or flight situation internally and I’m always nervous and this video was one of the first times I’ve been able to calm myself down without the use of substance. Thanks for the cool video:)
