Thia was brilliantly examined, Nouri. Thank you. That is the heart of this movie inderneath the heists and gunfight scenes- it really is about HUMAN CONNECTION!

I picked up this book on your recommendation and I'm a big fan. As a self proclaimed non-creative, I still got a lot of value out of his assertion that creativity exists everywhere, and that even the most mundane decisions (like picking a new route to drive to work) involve tapping into creativity. Reframed the way I approach things for sure!

For just a hint at the early greatness of each actor, may I suggest this double feature: ... AND JUSTICE FOR ALL. Post-GODFATHER II, Pre-SCARFACE, this great film shows Al Pacino giving his most heart-wrenching performance as a lawyer beset by constant failures at the hands of the justice system. ANGEL HEART. Robert DeNiro goes toe to toe with Mickey Rourke as a mysterious benefactor who hires Rourke to search for a man who owes him...... big time.❤

100% the thought of going to film school was regularly crossing my mind just for the networking aspect. But I also think usually, these networks work for people who think similarly and share a similar culture. Would we have fitted in enough to benefit from it? There are a few filmmakers on KZbin who have shared alternative ways they've built networks later in life and were able to get decent teams and funding (I am thinking of channels like Friends in Film, Film Courage and Luc Forsyth). The reason I want to see you up there is not only because I'd be happy you'd be living your dream but also because you'd have a much bigger platform and would bring a voice with meaning and depth in the industry. insha'Allah anything can happen

Couldn't disagree agree more. Heat is not at all about the fear of human connection. Heat is an allegory about the individual in society and his attempts to fit in. MaCuly is not looking for individual connections. He's trying to make his way in the world, most importantly on his terms. Just like One flew over the Cukoos's Nest or Mann's breakthrough film Thief. Same theme. This is a more complex subject than individual connection.

So.... Why the intense handshake by Neil and Hanna at the end? Especially at the end of Neil's life?
@rasheedrashad68314 күн бұрын
@leonardobraynen1524 You don't get it. Men like McCauly and Hanna made thier choice a long time ago. Long before thier romances in the film. Career over family. Sure, they tell themselves they want both, but look at thier choices each time the choose career over family. As for the handshake at the end, completely predictable of two competitors in any venue acknowledgement of each other's competativness.
@leonardobraynen15244 күн бұрын
@@rasheedrashad6831 so according to you, none of that *HUMAN CONNECTION, AM LONELY* nonsense?
@rasheedrashad68314 күн бұрын
@@leonardobraynen1524 You focused on a sub plot. McCauly's relationship with the graphic artist is incidental. The theme of the movie is suggested in the title Heat,and when McCauly tells Hanna in the diner, "Don't have anything in your life you can't walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner." It is vacant like Hanna tells him in the diner, you get no arguments from me on that point but what did McCauly do at the end; just that, walk out on that woman. He made that choice a long time ago.

If a cop and a criminal can both conquer their fears of human connection by connecting with each other, then that’s a pinnacle testament to the power of cinema. Thank you for your analysis of Heat.

I am going to sound snobby here, but I personally didn't care for the cinematography of Better Call Saul. It had that super sharp, "shot on RED" look with very deep focus and a clinical, digital feel. That style really isn't really my cup of tea and I preferred how Breaking Bad looked overall. To each their own.

This post seems quite silly click bait the movie is clearly about a gang of robbers who must be prepared to cut off all ties if they ‘see The Heat’ around the corner, as it states. Totally a waste of time to look deeper and deSpite this post, NONE of the actor interviews even comes CLOSE to suggesting this crap ‘theory’. Al Pacino’s character explicitly states he cant hold a marriage due to his 24/7 duty as we see time and again. The most famous scene with De Niro in the diner takes place ‘after hours’ and was scripted to show this fact. The police,an is obsessive and the gang is greedy. BTW: The gang all have partners they are devoted to loving and THAT element of devotion is critical part of the sub plot so yeah this post is total BS, understand now? I dont think you watched the same movie
