He commented in 1973 about Swed Savage firery crash and said Savage was using a "foam filling suit" that when exposed to heat would fill the suit with foam. But I found almost no more information about such suit on web just a reference that was a nomex suit able to get filled with foam automaticly. Sounds promissing as a idea. Does anyone knows more about such suit and why it got forgot or abandom?

Before Stewart came along drivers were admired for their bravery as much as for their skills. Motor racing has never been the same since his arrival on the scene, for better or for worse. depending on your views.

The cars and tracks have become so comparatively safe now that F1 drivers often behave like they are on a go cart track. Back in Jackie's day, if one car collided with another the result was more often disaster, and the drivers behaved accordingly. Today they often seem to act like they are driving bumper cars.

@@almostfm It's not that, it's the hypocrasy in the FIA, the racing becoming worse and the cars slowly becoming less and less like F1 cars. 2000s F1 cars were the epitome of an F1 car, ultra quick, ultra light, small, sleek, aesthetically pleasing, aggressive to drive and they sounded like F1 cars. Now pair those cars with the fantastic close racing of 2010-2012 (which is entirely possible) and you have perfect F1. But no, the FIA has to follow trends and make their cars hybrid engined and turn them into trucks. Formula One is dying.

so what? are you arguing against the safety of the drivers? sure the races might've been more exciting, but at what cost? Imagine you being the father of a young F1 driver who loses his son, they could've raced at a safer track, but that wouldn't have been as exiting, nah fam, I'd rather have the safer races

@@tlr5519 Unless you're of a certain age, you don't remember a time when at the start of a racing season, it didn't matter what series you followed-you knew that at least one driver was going to die. I think if you don't have that memory, it's a lot easier to think about losing tracks than thinking about the drivers that you _haven't_ lost because they got rid of tracks that were ridiculously dangerous track configurations of the 1960s and early 70s.
