When you are grading the BG to match the FG, and you view the r,g,b separately to adjust the gamma of each channel, what are you looking at to match? is it an overall value match? or are you matching the mid tones between the plate and element?

You can use a keyer node to get the apha of reflection then premult that and add over your BG or you can do the aditive key process
