So, you need three programs to utilize openFoam. One to create the mesh, then import that into openFoam then import the results into parasolid? That is ridiculously convoluted.

Hi, I just briefly checked the boundary conditions of your case file. I suggest you may try to use a Totalpressure condition for p at the inlet as well as Totaltemperature for T. I wouldn’t specify U. I’d rather use zero gradient or maybe a pressureinletoutlet condition. If the Mach Number at the throat of the nozzle is equal to one, which should be the case, then the mass flow and thus the velocity at the inlet is not independent of the Totalpressure and Totaltemperature. Therefore you shouldn’t fix it, instead let the solver figure it out. Otherwise you overspecify the problem and numerical errors, which differentiate your solution from the analytical one may lead to huge pain in the ass problems and unphysical solutions. I am currently working on a similar case. I am quite new to supersonic flow simulations and I am still learning, so there is no guarantee that this helps or works as expected, but it could be a more sensible solution for your boundary conditions. If I find the time I will try your case and check it out. ✌️

I know it’s too late to ask but does topology matter in product animation , I mean the cad models here are not having correct polygons…I mean during render time does they pose an issue ? & thanks for you tutorial brother…

New subscriber here. Can we discuss a new test of the valve in open foam but with the valve installed in the pulse detonation chamber it was designed for that has a pulsed pressure higher that atmospheric? I’ve never seen the simulation being ran in the proper format for use of the invention. It will yield very different results!

Does the use of designmodeler add anything or is it just geometry creation. Us non commercial users are stuck with open source software
@AwestrikeFearofGods6 ай бұрын
So...tetrahedral mesh had 2.36x as many cells, 0.99x as many nodes, and 1.62x as many edges...as mixed mesh. That's a big deal if run duration was only 0.73x! Why isn't this common knowledge already? Good work! Did you run exactly 10,000 iterations for each case? It appears so from the charts, but it's hard to tell with a logarithmic domain and holes in the data. 2:11 On the right-hand chart, what the hell's going on with the y-axis? Did you round the values to the nearest tenth?

Thanks for the video! There is one quick question, in ParaView GUI interface, the input parameter for gradient filter is scalar array, but it seems that field U is an array of vector (vx,vy,vz), how could we compute the gradient for it? Thanks!

Thank you for the tutorial :) When i run your cybetruck simple foam project i get following error: --> foam fatal error: invalid wall function specification. Patch type for patch topX must be wall. Current patch type is patch. Do you know the cause of this ? Thank you so much for the reply
@alexsfetcu9468 ай бұрын
edit: i found issue. Wrong boundary conditions, all types were selected as "patch". After correcting them to patch type "wall" and leaving only inlet and outlet as "patch" now simulation is running fine.

CL/CD of less than 4 is very weird at this Reynolds number
@jonathanclarke89074 ай бұрын
I agree CL/CD of 4 is too low. This is clearly as a result of methods used. I have found similar results (~3.5)in OpenFOAM for a wing I have tested in reality and found to be about 20. Does anyone know why the value is so low?

Hello, Autodesk Inventor is saving or exporting the assembly as a single .stl file with joined bodies. It is not giving separate stl file for each body for the assembly. What to do?
@akshay.kumar.k10 ай бұрын
Ok I got the answer, for anyone wondering. In "Save As", click options and them export as multiple files.
@gottagowork8 ай бұрын
If the file comes as one or you have multibody parts in one of the files that you want to animate separately, hit Tab in Blender to enter edit mode with the part selected, hit p key and "separate as loose parts". Be sure to set the origin point of each part, but sometimes (say on a piston arm) another point may be more relevant. If a part need multiple points of rotation, parent the part to an empty and animate the empty (both selected, then ctrl+p). Doing some Blender tutorials would be nice too. This guy don't seem to address some of the smoothing issues that may require some cleaning up of the imported geometry.

What? How could Bender Not export Video files?
@gottagowork8 ай бұрын
It can. If you do, you'll quickly learn why you shouldn't. Imagine a crash/blackout mid render that can take hours to days, or figuring out in the end the output settings were wrong. It's better to assemble the frames at the end, Blender can do this too.

As far as my understanding goes, the mesh you created in Ansys was a custom one. How did you get the 0, constant, and system files for the simulation to run? The rest of the video is very informative, so thanks.
