thanks for the video. The tri-guard look is exactly what I was looking for. Are there mounting tabs for any lights? Also, how does the finish match the OEM bumper? Thanks.
@ExpeditionBuilds18 күн бұрын
Glad to hear the video was helpful. There are no mounting tabs on the XLP Hoop. The finish is a near perfect match to the OEM Steel Bumper.
@richards14418 күн бұрын
@ thanks. I can live out with the mounting tabs. Would have been nice, but not a deal breaker. Mopar’s OEM tri-hoop doesn’t have them either.
@ExpeditionBuilds18 күн бұрын
@@richards144 I have the Mopar Tri Hoop on our 392. It's a different shape than the Max-3 XLP Hoop and Mopar has removable rubber grommets on the back/underside for running wires...pretty cool. Also, being a different shape, you can get different lights under it by attaching them to the bumper. Here's a look: www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/rubi-392-20th-anniversary-build-backstory.136028/page-7 If you scroll back a few pages in the thread, you can see a comparison I did to the XLP Hoop.

Is that 1/8 total? So it was be 1/16th each side technically? Aka the difference of both measuring tapes is 1/8th?
@ExpeditionBuilds26 күн бұрын
Hi Miguel! Yes, 1/8" total. Now, having said that I want to share some personal experience as well as knowledge I've gained over the years on this topic. I ran 1/8 toe in for a good 35K mi. Jeep handled well, very happy with the steering feel. I did see a small amount of cupping on the front tires, nothing huge, but it was there. When it was time for new tires which I had my shop install, I opted for a an alignment. Talking with my mechanic who has done hundreds of alignments, he tells me he always goes an 1/8 out. I trust his skills and he sets 1/8 out...Jeep drives great.I don't have a lot of miles on the new tires so I can't comment on wear. So, why am I sharing this with you? Depending on your castor, either way can work well for your Jeep. If you're doing your own alignments, try it both ways and see hoe your Jeep responds. By the way, SteerSmarts recommends 1'8-3/16" toe out for 37's. I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes for you.
@MiguelCatch2226 күн бұрын
@@ExpeditionBuildsthanks for the reply! I just did it earlier and I did about an 1/8th toe in. I’m on 37s so I’ll see how this goes this time around. I’ve always done toe in and i realized today that the outer part of the tread was more worn than the inside. I was over tho like almost a 1/4 toe in! I previously used a laser measuring tool at the rims, but now that I have these brackets I’ll experiment 1/8th in this time and 1/8th out next rotation. (Reason why I was so far in is because I was in an accident in July and I thought I had set it right after I replaced my pitman arm, but my wheel bearing was actually bad, had some play and now replaced.

My Wife just got her new Bronco Raptor. The Raptor is just in a league of its own. It just flat out rips and is an absolute fun experience to drive but I am a solid axle guy and I am looking for a low mileage JLU with the 2.0L turbo to build for the rocks in Colorado. That’s one thing about Jeep, they are so buildable just for the fact they’ve been around forever and the aftermarket is endless for them. It will come for Ford but it’ll take some time. I agree, competition is a good thing!! It’s forces honesty and quality so the rivalry begins!! I still like the looks of a Jeep over the Bronco tho. OlllllllO

Hey Ron, good hearing from you. Appreciate the kind words. You're right, both AFE and Borla make quality exhausts. AFE does a great job tucking the muffler up, out of the way which is great for the off-road environment.

Only thing more not needed than this is Ditch Lights, Don't drive in a ditch and you don't need lights. 50 years of camping and I've only needed a shower once. $5 hot shower at the bike shop in Moab and I'm not adding more junk and weight to my truck. Your Fauxverlanding is nothing but Overloading.

Wow Brother, who pissed in your cheerios? I try to avoid driving in ditches as well! The 'Ditch Lights' could probably benefit from a better name...maybe where the hell is the edge of the trail light? Mine have been a big help when we're out after dark on a technical trail. Here's my thinking, gear is gear. Some guys go out with a hatchet, some guys prefer a chainsaw. We each get to decide what works for us right? For me, having pressurized H2O on the trail is a plus...for you, not so much I can see. Hopefully getting tpo see gear being tested/reviewed is helpful to the greater audience. Be well, appreciate you posting✌🏻

@ExpeditionBuilds4 ай бұрын
Hi Austin! To prep it for paint I did a quick wipe down with lacquer thinner to 'open' the finish and remove any oils. I then sprayed it.
@richards14418 күн бұрын
@@ExpeditionBuilds was it Rustoleum brand that you sprayed it with? If so, was it the basic matte black? I recently got their Patriot series rock rail (angle down) and I absolutely love them. But the powder coating is definitely a shinier finish. I don't mind it at all for the rock rail, but you're right, it would be obviously clashing with the OEM steel bumper finish. NVM - I just saw your other video on the Maximum-3 tri-bumper and I've always wanted the look so I'll be getting that.

Hey Rubi! With the 37's aired down it was getting bad, I couldn't turn unless I could roll a few feet, which is not always possible offroad. I was also overheating the P.S. fluid. With the Apex installed, I can now turn the wheel while aired down, no issues. It's so seamless, I sometimes forget I'm running it. Definitely recommend!
