Thank you so much, this was so very helpful! I really appreciate that you explained and showed both types of fiber. I'm a new spinner working with a drop spindle. I thought I was spinning from a roving when it was actually a combed top! 🤣 I suppose now I know why I was having such trouble.

I have a single on a storage bobbin that has been there about a year. I'm ready to spin the rest of that fiber now and was wondering if I can ply a fresh single with the stored single or if I need to skein the stored one up, soak it, then put it back on the bobbin prior to plying.
