Of course you bold and shameless philistines are comparing Jennifer Hudson singing this song within the bloody film where the scene is her desperately TELLING her man not to leave her, to this purely musical performance and yapping about “class” and “yelling”. I prefer this version to Jennifer’s. Maybe I’m just biased. I prefer Cynthia’s voice. She’s clear, clean. You can hear every syllable. Jennifer is just loud. She irks me.

Love her voice...great vocals but this song is too big for her......not all songs needs perfect vocal...some songs required voices like Jennifer Hudson or better still Jennifer holiday for this song

I don’t think is too big for her. Smaller voices have successfully sung that song. But this song requires a grit, a certain stridency Cynthia lacks. But she did a phenomenal job anyway.

I love Cynthia Arivo, I had heard her before Wicked and I knew that she is a fantastic singer and actress, but Wicked really opened my eyes and ears to Cynthia’s immense talent. I adore her, she has such a huge vocal range and so much control. 🩷💚

Cynthia has a poweful and beautiful voice, but Jennifer Holliday is at another level! I watched her performance in Dreamgirls in 1983 and I can still remember being in tears throught her powehouse vocal rendition!!!
