Wow… a thing of Engineering beauty… I’ve only ever seen and heard a 3 cylinder Gardner in a canal boat in UK… it ticked over like a sewing machine..😊

Two hundred and four Patricroft ponies spurred to life , noisy snorting smelly old Gardner, no wonder I love them, loads of oily smoke straight out the manifold, Joseph Lucas starter sounding like Michael Ball with a bad cold.

Yes they did, my grandfather used to have 5 of them.

@BishopsGate and 50 years later Volvo built a legendery 5 cylinder which is still their most iconic engine. Audi did the same I think. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Honda built and raced a V5 motorcycle engine. But Gardiner might have been the first with 5⁉ I would still like to know the name on that Gardiner fuel injection pump please.

@banjoman483 and start it on the handle . Even seen one started by just pulling on injector priming.levers on the injector pump
