Definitely the best Mafonna album after COADF. So far... Hard candy and MDNA are just not worthy to listen, Hard candy was fun back then but now it is ridicolous and MDNA has always been a bad album. Madame X, yes but the whole production is most of a meh sonically.

I know it feels weird at first, but the more you listen to this album, the more you get the deep meaning of what she's been trying to say through the whole record. So, it's actually a great record. A great way to close the last decade, I'd say. A very experimental album, but pretty solid and cohesive some way or another.

Completely agree with you. This album didn’t really click for me either. I totally understand what you mean by the songs sounding the same, the heavy drums throughout most of the songs make them almost identical.

It really can't be understated how important Madonna was to the male gay community during the AIDS epidemic. From her earliest days on the club scene in New York - and throughout the worst days of the epidemic and beyond - it was clear that she was a committed, unwavering ally. And the reason it was clear wasn't only because she spoke out loudly and forcefully on our behalf, but also because she was simultaneously experiencing much of what many of us were going through - if not physically, then certainly emotionally. Her deep immersion in gay culture from the minute she hit New York meant that she understood and cared about us in a way that no other Very Famous Person - pop icon or otherwise - ever had before. With this magnificent album (her best imo), she documented for posterity her commitment to and understanding of our community. Throughout those dark days and beyond, she hasn't just been an outspoken supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, but she's celebrated us through her music (and some damned good music at that!). Madonna and her music have been a consistent part of the gay cultural landscape for decades. It's why she means so much to so many of us. And why some of her (cough cough) older gay male fans like myself will never turn our backs on her. (But please M, don't turn out to be a serial killer...we do draw the line :).
