Ma perche di imprese così si trova giusto qualche video di appena 3 minuti?? Non c e altro materiale da vedere. Imprese alpinistiche notevoli e quasi per nulla documentate But why are there only a few videos lasting just 3 minutes for companies like this? There is no other material to see. Remarkable and almost undocumented mountaineering feats

As a rock climber, I can't imagine how someone can trust Ice so much. I sometimes don't even trust rock that's been there for millenia..
@donalddarko36763 жыл бұрын
At least if the ice is good you are not very likely to fall. The rock can be great and you'll still fall.
@jopvandam68202 жыл бұрын
@@donalddarko3676 I’m completely new to climbing and I want to learn. Why is it less likely you will fall while ice climbing? Is it easier/less exhausting to hold your bodyweight using ice tools? I’m curious.
@BenihanaX2 жыл бұрын
@@jopvandam6820 The easiest holds to hold onto in rock climbing are "jugs" (they're shaped like a handle), and ice tools have handles. Very occasionally you might come across a hold in mixed climbing (ice and rock on the same route) that requires a hand instead of a tool, but it probably won't be the crux (most difficult part of the route). Also, falling during roped ice climbing is far more dangerous because you have pointy things everywhere (snagging a crampon and breaking an ankle is not unheard of), and you place ice screws less frequently than trad gear. So ice climbers tend to climb closer to their comfort zone to mitigate that risk.

but you know how they trust it! the same way we say we trust it! the same oh fuck I hope this holds.

Does anybody know which solo system he is climbing with?
@sogseal86003 жыл бұрын
exact. only at 3.10 min you can see that it ensures but I don't know with which technique? then I don't understand why he doesn't tie the ice axes. he is definitely a top climber. very good. but he seems too risky. usually professionals like him do not risk certain mountaineering rules.
@BenihanaX2 жыл бұрын
He has a Grigri for the lead line, and a microtrax to keep the weight of the rope from feeding backwards through the Grigri. But based on that and the intervals that he is placing pro, I think he is using the system mostly to stay in a good headspace. Or perhaps he places more pro on difficult sections and we just didn't get to see that.
@lucacrudo63952 жыл бұрын
Where is he placing the micro trax?
@BenihanaX2 жыл бұрын
@@lucacrudo6395 It's hanging from a gear loop, you can see it at 3:19 and how the free end of the rope feeds through it to the grigri.
