I've followed your instructions, but after drilling the larger hole I find that there is not only metal where I would expect the espag plate to be, but there is also metal up the sides (or front and back if you're looking face on to the frame), which looks like it might be a metal U-frame reinforcement - am I correct? I've only drilled though one layer of plastic. Am I to drill though the metal, possibly another layer of plastic, before I hit the espag? The frame is made by Profile 22. Many thanks.

My door handle is quite near the top of the housing and top mounting screw is just below the handle. Which spring cassettes are suitable for this configuration?

to fit the rod in place inside the window UNDO the thread all the way up with pliers so its hard to do back up, then insert in the hole and twist with Pliers, that rod will click and after just do the thread back up to required lenth

What would you use to break out windows when the espagnolettes ceased in lock position with minimal damage? Ive made window slices out of door latch slices but not amazing. Fed up of deglazing and having to bend the frames to break free. Thanks gents!

Hi Mick no generally you will find the holes do not meet up with a different make of hinge so will require new fixing holes and also you need to note the step height of the door you are repairing as the hinge is made in different step heights

Very well explained.when replacing damaged hinges, are all the screw holes uniform to other hinges or will new holes have to be drilled. Also do you shim the hinges on the frame for different thickness sashes?

I got these. Silver and gold. They look nice. Better than the obsolete slider chain which can be opened with a rubber band and some tape from the outside. They were really pathetic. Anyone can open them from the outside. My main concern is can these be opened from the outside with a piece of wire by an intruder????? I Don't think they're as secure as people think these are. I'd love to see a video of someone bypassing this chain and opening it from the outside with a piece of wire? Plus the screws that come in the pack are too small. You could boot them out of the wood.

This has been a education , I am about to replace upvc panels on my door. This has been a great help.

I seem to be doing so many more multi point lock replacements, but of course we are now seeing to boom that started in the 90's of conservatories and porches, giving us gearboxes that are 20+ years old. I love looking at you very informative videos, but today's little gem has got to be that simple little jig that holds the gearbox steady whilst you dismantle the assembly. Exactly what I was looking for!

Why not just use advice if it's just clipped on anyway

1) Put both screws in, leaving some play, & then tighten both up. Putting in the 1st screw tight & then turning the piece to line up for the 2nd screw will probably scratch the crap out of the plastic. 2) Use some PVC tape or a spacer so you only drill down the depth you need, not the depth of the drill bit! 3) And please use a small spirit level so it doesn't all look like 💩

Ive changed the gearbox so latches move in and out no problem... not the barrel lock wont turn ive lined it up properly i have bought another but same problem... help

This device can be overcome. The door handles are broken off outside and the handle spindles are hammered through so handles fall off on the inside ☹️ then the doors are crowbarred open.

Definitely a good lock. Unfortunately there's a specific lock pick set that defeats the magnetic feature. It's unlikely.any people other than a locksmith has these tools. Hopefully they can upgrade this nice lock. Thank you for sharing.🙏

Just had a new glazing unit installed but the fitter didn't check the mechanism, so they closed and locked the window and now it is jammed shut. replaced the handle to see if that was the problem, but seems either the lock box mech has jammed or the shoot bolts are stuck in the locked position. Little bit scared to remove the beads now

They used literally one little square inch of that packer on the bottoms only., and relied on the little felt gaskets to seal everything.. and charged 500 a window.. i can push the things in from the outside.. a good windstorm is going to tear my house apart now,. Bastards..
