Tom was on the Nashville Now show once and he sang the song about old dogs, …something?… and watermelon wine. My niece and nephew sat around him with some other kids while he sang the song.

What? There WAS a Steel Guitar; being played at these times,: It starts at 1:13; and stops at 2:14. Wake up Jeffrey!

However, this SG player was nowhere; with the SG that Buck; had in the original recording of this Song.. Because Ralph, Mooney was one of THE greatest SG players. ever . I met him one time. Wow! He was very kind. And he was the "driving part" of early Buck Owen songs. Oh indeed yes! And when Ralph went over with another Singer; Buck got Tom Brumley. Who was another GREAT Steel Guitar players. And he were friends. I miss him so much! May Jesus rests his precious Soul.

This steel player’s good, but I’ve gotta say I miss Mooney and his fender on this track… And I always forget what a great fiddler Don Rich was. So used to seeing him with a telecaster in his hand!

I was so happy in the early 70's when Buck went back to playing the same music that he made his name with. And when Don Rich died it ended. Don was sure a big part of Buck's sound.
