There are different spiritual gifts for different believers. Not to mention the Holy Spirit poured out on them and gave them gifts to help them spread the word and set up the church, for they were the foundation. Specific circumstances. And when they spoke in tongues people who spoke different languages understood what they were saying. But there wasn’t anything in scripture that points to when a believer gets baptized they speak in tongues as a sign they have the Holy Spirit. If you do speak in tongues make sure you have a translator otherwise it’s of no profit and edification. Also if you’re in church do it one at a time with a translator. If you don’t have a translator then speak in tongues quietly to yourself.

The Church of God believes "In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Ghost." You are watching a Church of God Campmeeting. You should expect preaching and teaching in support of their doctrinal distinctive. If you don't like what the Church of God believes regarding speaking in tongues, there are plenty of other churches from which to choose. But, surely you must know that writing your thesis in remarks on this channel isn't going to change anything. p.s. Jesus BLESS you.

They have been patting each other on the back for several years and taking up money I've seen them take money up twice in the same night but we've just got to ignore that and enjoy what we went there for and not let nothing distract us from our enjoyment

I am very much surprised at this video as it pertains to the Church of God. This is the very first time in YEARS that I have heard of any group associated with Cleveland, TN. Church of God who would DARE sing a gospel song. I am a lifelong devotee of the convention-type gospel song and I sadly recollect the time in the mid-1980's that the hierarchy of the COG decreed that gospel music was out and that contemporary music was as far as the COG stood! And from that day to this day, the COG has gone contemporary not only in music but in lifestyle as well. Your people (in church) look and act exactly as the world. And that is the reason why the COG has lost spiritual power and standing as far as the world goes. I am so glad that the group seen in this video had the spiritual fortitude to sing what is the heritage of the COG. I have said in my heart that the remnant COG members should have the courage to turn from this group and establish their own INDEPENDENT COG congregations as a means of honoring the great heritage of their forefathers. May GOD grant this vision of renewal for the COG!

I love this. Pastor Bates is my pastor and he's like this all the time. He gets everyone pumped up all the time. It’s funny how he has to teach these people how to worship.

I think you said it very well. The entire thing is predicated upon "pumping" people up or arousing their emotions. The only problem is this.....being a Christian has nothing to do with artificially getting emotional according to Master Jesus. He said if you will believe in me and DO MY WORKS, then you shall be saved. I do not seem to hear these words in this service.

@@uriahpeep9008 that is not what I meant. unfortunately some churches do "thrive" on the feel good parts and flow through artificial emotions(like a concert) but not Pastor Bates and his church. please do not judge a person from one message. Pastor Bates very much teaches what we as believers must do and not do to be saved but he also stresses its not just about our works. we cannot earn our way into heaven by being good people. I encourage you to watch other messages by Pastor Bates. He preaches the whole Bible and nothing else. I pray this helps.
