Fabulous playing Paul. Loved your playing when you did Leeds last year with Nik and we had a chat after the gig.

Hey Paul, thanks for the La Bella suggestion, its on my list😊. Saw you playing in Lincoln a 40th anniversary gig with Nik? Awesome.. You used the Steinberger paddle? Nice sound.
@MrPgbass12 күн бұрын
Nik’s songs are a real challenge to play, and I wanted to be as authentic as possible, so the Steinberger (which is an original 1984, model fits the bill!) I got it restored from Headless USA in New York) all carbon graphite! Original EMG pickups!) 👍🏻

Backing tracks are "industry standard" for the seeming majority of bands, these days. Nik and his crew will always have my support, but I wish those background vocals weren't in the mix. Bass sounds fat, though. Thanks for the posting, Paul.

I loved the steiny synapse 5 I wonder how the ns 5 strings with the piezo sound like? I’ve seen a comparison with Nathan Navarro do one but I don’t know how much signal processing he does!

I think it depends on what you’re actually using it for? Style, songs genre. I’m using a Sadowsky preamp for more depth and boost!

Ive come here by way of hearing you play with Nik Kershaw in Germany 2023, and in particular Wide Boy, not to say the other songs werent anything short of spectacular, but its the way you played wide boy and the choice of notes and the sonic atributes of the bass and the way you played it and even more importantly the notes you "chose" not to play. Today we see so many chicken chokers that those bass players may as well be playing with themselves because they dont fit into a bass environment. My god I have that concert on replay all day long, even so that my kids have taken note. Awesome Bass player. And now to watch you play with your son ??? not sure and i cant from this angle but cudos to a great sound.

Thank you for your kind comments James 🙏 it is always a pleasure playing with Jack! Re: WideBoy, I’ve been playing that song since I auditioned for Nik in 1998! It’s a kind of hybrid version that’s suits the live environment! Always a pleasure to play! See you in the Autumn 🍂please come and say “hi” 👍🏻
