Cool to see Wild at Heart on your shelf, I'm a big John Eldredge fan. Also NineMile Wolves and One Man's Wilderness, I've read both of those...plus love Jack London as well.

I got Two Little Savages for my grandson, who was probably 7 or 8 at the time. I looked into it and it was entertaining. I didnt give it to my grandson cause I was sure he wouldnt understand any of the jargon.

I'm a big fan of health information. I was wondering have you ever read information from Dr Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr T Colin Campbell, Dr Dean Ornish, Dr Neal Bernard and Dr John McDougall? Thank you for sharing your books. I'll check them out. I truly believe your health is one of the best things you can pass down to your children. All the money in the world cant buy your health. I think it starts from there, a healthy body is a healthy mind and a happy mind and with all those things you can continue to enjoy your life for a long time, if the good Lord is willing.

I am so happy you finally did this!!! I have to say I disagree that you are not a master or that you wouldn't have such a dedicated following. I love to read and I love being in the country, it heals my soul. Since I have been watching you, I have been pestering my husband to move back to the country with more land than a house. With the economy the way it is we may never get to my dream of living the simple country life again. So, please, keep making your videos.

This is a great information sharer. I am particularly interested in the "Creating a Forest Garden" as my land is mostly a forest, and I want to keep the deer and bear here for hunting purposes. Do you know of any information I can gather for my husband for hunting bear? He is honestly intimidated, which I understand, but I have a great deal of confidence in him, especially if he gathers and reads information about it. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

Fellow Canadian feeling the pinch, you nailed it sir, it's time to evaluate life. I'm a little older than you but I'm fulfilling the dream of building off grid one board at a time! I'm on a pilgrimage toward a more self reliant life. Thank you Shawn, your videos inspired me to go for it.

You made a conscious decision to go public with your life and lifestyle choices many years ago, Shawn. That's why you now have 3 KZbin channels, with well over a million subscribers between the 3 of them. For you to tell your viewers that if you had had your way, none of us would have ever heard or known about you is both untrue and very misleading, one could almost say manipulative, of your audience. You CHOSE to take your life (and the lives of your family) public for whatever reasons. If you dislike life in the spotlight so much, it would be really simple to recluse yourself and your family by simply stopping to post videos of yourself (and your family) on a public forum. I get it that the income you derive from KZbin (and Patreon and sponsers and merch sales) funds yours and your family's ability to sustain the lifestyles you have chosen, and I don't think that's a bad thing, in fact, I applaud you for mastering what many folks find to be a very difficult medium to make a living from. But be honest with us, your viewers, those of us who directly and/or indirectly fund you and your family's life and lifestyle choices. If you had wanted to be truly unknown and anonymous, why did you ever take your story online to begin with?

You really resonated with me Shawn. I am 70 now but for all my life up till now (when my body started to let me down) I got told that I must learn to finish everything I started. My problem was that, like you, I was so interested in so many things and wanted to try them. Often I would try it, do it, then lose interest in it. I picked up quite a few languages because I am fortunate to have an ear for it but couldn't be bothered to go the proper route learning. Same with dance baking, etc. I now realize that I will not feel guilty or like someone who has achieved nothing. I enjoyed what I did, learnt a lot, just was not the person to be a master of one. That was so incredibly honest of you. Really respect it. Please know that you bring a lot of enjoyment and learning to all of your subscribers. 😂When I first started watching your videos, I had been wanting for some time to live off grid. This was way way before it seemed to be the thing to do. (not you of course) Unfortunately I was too old to start but watching you still teaches me many things that I think of as tips should anything catyaclysmic happen and we have to survive on our own.
