I do hope several people have questioned the artistic merits of Moc-cap and VP; both seem to provide nothing more than banal would- be replicates of over-simplified real and fantastic worlds.

Thanks for watching our video and engaging with the topic. As artists with over 25 years of experience across various mediums, we’re always excited to see how technology can expand creative possibilities. But there is a fine line when it comes to how new technologies can benefit our work. We certainly think there is an argument to say that using technology to replace worlds or people that already exist can be more of a distraction than a benefit. However, we believe technology allows us to create things beyond what is physically possible. We need to think less about re-creating realities, and more about creating the impossible. The other benefits may be less creative, but just as important. Environmental, economics, accessibility. Working within tech and budget constraints is a familiar challenge for most artists, and our behind-the-scenes videos aim to demystify that process. We don't think VP and Mo-cap solve all of our problems, but they do offer new creative tools, and that is a fun challenge. As with all things, getting the best out of something is not about taking sides, it is exploring the grey areas in the middle. So, we'll meet you halfway!

This video only concentrates on the English South African response to the Germans in our midst, ignoring the sympathetic view of the Afrikaans South Africans to Germans. The Boers had suffered at the hands of British indifference during the Boer War, so I doubt there was much support for the British internment system during WW1. I would bet that the Afrikaanders made damn sure the British didn't turn their camps into death sentences again!

Are you aware that there is no such word as country in all our African indigenous languages? History tells that "black" and KhoiSan has been moving up and down these lands interacting and interbreeding. So stop with that nonsense of justifying your colonial actions. We never colonised anybody, "white man"did.

Maybe it is inconvenient to rather remember the concentration camps that the British invented in The Boer War, 1900 to 1902. What rubbish this is and it is narrated really badly. It is evident that there is a woke UK arts agency involved in this.
@splashafrica

Exactly this if it's even true then it is undeniable that m the idea was inherited from the British who used simular if not worse tactics for the sake of the empire against those that live the land
@robert-trading-as-Bob69
@robert-trading-as-Bob69 Жыл бұрын
The British did not invent the concentration camp, but their input, along with the example of Turkish brutality after WW1 against the Armenian minority, led to Nazi Germany's concentration camp system and eventually the death camps. Before the Boer War, there were concentration camps in Cuba, and before that the Spanish Missions and American governments treatment of the Native Americans led directly to the modern concept of interning civilians. I am glad this video went on to mention the Uigar peoples internment in China because our South African government normally jumps when China demands it. The main problem with the Boer Concentration Camps was the lack of empathy from the British commanders. The Brits did not seem to be prepared for what looked like a good idea on paper. The result, of course, was criminal negligence on their part that led to more civilian deaths than Boer military deaths. Lord Alfred Milner must be burning in hell right now for his callous attitude that many of the camp commanders and their troops followed. I still don't quite understand how the NP led government could follow a policy of Apartheid after their experiences at the hands of the British. I suppose fear of civilians becoming victims again is one reason. Before you think I am a rooinek or a soutpiel, consider the fact that I served in the SADF, and I have family buried at Irene Concentration Camp Cemetery. Most of the Annandale dead were children and at least 2 grandparents of those poor children. The British couldn't even be bothered to keep proper records, so one of the 2 Annandale families are buried under the name Avondale there. What still aggravates me is that the British never apologised for their camps. My grandfather was born just after the Boer War and married the daughter of a Scottish officer who fought against the Boers. So my branch of the Annandales does use English as their home language, and I, for one, am glad we reconnected with our Scottish heritage, but I do not forget what happened to my Boer ancestors here.
