Rockwell Blake is an amazing (Bel Canto) Tenor and I love his performances in other Rossini Opera's. However, i vastly prefer Stanford Olsen's performance of "Ah dov' è" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4ioe4lnadF2ndE) and "La speranza più soave" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXTWYZqAoc50l7M); always brings me to the verge of tears. Just, much more emotion in his performance.

Ciofi is HORRIBLE in the inflammatus. She has no voice and here you need a lot of it! I hear warm air and wobble.

Comcordo. Due anni fa l'aveva trasmesso Rai 5 in una qualità ancora migliore, ma purtroppo non è mai stato commercializzato.

Glorieuse époque. Nous avons chacun nos références (Blake, Gasdia…) Pour moi, Dupuy est la référence absolue du rôle. La beauté de la voix, la maîtrise de l’art, la noblesse de l’intonation. Une très grande dame,assurément.

Fantastic - I have never seen this before. I believe the girl second from the left (and who is in the final shot) is the late Giulia De Mutiis, who was Alessandroni's wife. I think number 3 may be Gianna Spagnuoli THE voice on Navajo Joe. Thankyou for posting this. I wish there were more gems like this discovered.

Den Lobeszeilen kann ich mich nicht anschließen, denn die Aufführung wird viel zu robust dirigiert, der Chor ist nicht ganz im Takt, die Tempi wirken zum Teil wie eine Polka; es fehlt generell die "Italianitá", das Gespür für schönen Belcanto. Aber eine große Leistung ist es trotzdem.

Wow ! The loudness of the brass section ! Exciting ! What a dramatic compliment to Rossini's genius ! What a powerful conductor ! I love this overture, my favorite by Rossini. I have never heard it played like this ... exhilarating ! The audience should have been on their feet after that powerful performance !
