Is actually not hard to nerf yourself, all you have to do is play to teach then instead of just playing how you would normally play. You just need a good teaching method, imagine if a teacher said "is hard to teach the basics because i'm so advanced" that would just mean the person is a bad teacher. What you can you in DBFZ, for example, is only use auto-combos, not use lows, assists and other stuff. Create like a mini game where you only do some basic stuff for your friends to try and punish. In street fighter you could only relly on fireballs, not even using normals, for instance, and teach then how to punish that, you'd still be playing with then, just not the way you would with a more skilled person. I know that muscle memory existis, but this is even better, by fighting against your muscle memory you'll play slower, and that's actually a good thing in this case. Core-A gaming actually gives some ideias about this in one of the videos, where they mention a "mini game" called sweeps and throws(i don't remember which one right now). I am pretty skilled at fighting games too and never had this problem, it seens to me that you just need more creativity and put more effort into actually making learning fun(since teaching already is something gratifying)... This is actually pretty common on the FGC, it's not like you're bad for not doing it, it is just that playing and teaching are different skills. I am a maths college teacher and had spent a how bunch of my life thinking about the subject. This is something that really bothers me in the FGC, the FGC wants people to learn but most of the player are really, really, really bad at teaching(they try to do well, but teaching isn't something anyone can just do and be good at), it reminds of how most people had really bad maths teacher and it is the reason why most people never learnt maths despite wanting to. I know that teaching isn't for everyone, it takes a lot of effort, not only into the act of teaching itself, there's a step of refleting on how you'll teach, preparing the stuff you'll teach... That's why people get paid and should be paid even more for teaching. But don't go around saying as if it was impossible, it's just something that maybe you never tried or don't want to put the necessary effort in order to do, and that's ok too. Just don't talk as if there's nothing you can do.

@MatheusFreitasOrangeMaths in most cases of teaching I would introduce a concept, give an example. Show them how to do it, tell where it is useful and teach it in practice. I have definitely had sessions where friends arnt looking to learn just play against me and then get mad when I'm holding back but will also get discouraged when I slaughter them. For those individuals I generally reccomend not playing against specifically me or at the very least don't do it all the time. I just happen to have some friends that if they arnt good at the thing immediatly to some capacity they won't stick with it.

@ohpeep3723 sajam gave credit that he got the idea to do so from CR. He then tried to pitch the same format to capcom and they weren't having it. Most people don't know what CR is too

@ohpeep3723 they're having it now. But initially, the reason Sajam did it on his own (despite not wanting to be a TO) is that no publisher or major TO was interested in making a tournament for non FG players.

@@emperormegaman3856 That is the crazy raccoon format we were talking about. Sajam used the exact same format which he knew it would work because the CR was such a success in Japan. Fyi before the first sajam cup happened Capcom tried to the tournament but failed because the only well known streamers they invited were Justin Wong and Kizzie Kay.

@@ohpeep3723 I know about the crazy racoon inspiration. if your reread my comment, i never said anything contradicting that point you made. i was only answering specifically about your comment that Capcom is supporting it. They are now, but initially, the reason Sajam made the slam is because he couldn't convince Tournament organisers to make more events like Racoon instead of competition for fighting game players. most of them didn't believe there was a audience. (In Capcom's case, possibly because of the time when -as you mentioned- they tried and failed).

I'll be shocked if Sajam doesn't run a GG slam next year. Probably Strive, since the slammers saw Nitro's win at EVO this year, but I'd be interested to see other games in the franchise ran in the format at well (and I don't doubt Sajam himself would be interested too)
