fishtapes are a mild/spring steel, meaning there's a lot of tension in the line. Softening the grain of the metal prior to forming makes it not only bend easier, but it also makes it stronger since you're actually deforming and normalizing the grain, meaning less separation between the layers of the grain. If you want to cool it down faster and also lubricate the head, you can melt the tip of a wax pencil on it, might make it harder to tape though.

I have an outlet that is receiving power, but nothing works when I plug it in. I replaced it without success and the next outlet downstream has the same issue, I have not changed out that one yet. I did also check the connections to the pigtails, they all appear in good condition. The outlet which I believe is before this one is fine. Any advice?

I'm remodeling a bathroom where the existing outlet was very close to the sink (a mid-century home built in 1951). The new sink is a bit larger and has 8-inch faucet spacing which reduces the distance between outlet and faucet so I'm moving the outlet a foot to the left. However, the existing outlet box was attached to a stud. Once I drilled a hole, Romex solid wire is almost impossible to work with over the short distance so I've ordered stranded wire to use to splice the existing wires to the new outlet. I hated having to buy additional wire but it sounds like stranded wire's flexibility should resolve some of the installation problems I've experienced. (BTW, I'm not completely opening the walls which made it harder to use Romex solid wire).

Don’t you think adding electrical tape around the wire & the WAGO connection would add strain relief? Strain relief is used in almost all related fields like Aviation Electronics. It keeps the wires where they’re supposed to be even if there is a bad connection at the connector. Too bad you can’t get Cannon Plugs at Home Depot. It would make wiring a house a piece of cake.

the reason his bend was underbent... He wanted to hit the center of the box? then measure from the center of the first one. He measured from the outside right of the pipe, but the bender is working with the LEFT side of the pipe when its said and done, due to his use of the right side of the pipe. so you always want to measure from the center of the knock out to the center of the knock out that youre going for.

couldnt you just poke a regular probe into the usb port why do u need a special device for that
@EliasKaydanius2 ай бұрын
Not much space for two probes, and high risk of shorting the 5v line to the housing. The "special device" that you NEED is just a cable with USB plug on one side and loose wires on the other. THEN you can probe the wires safely. The device in the video also allows you to check the current when charging. Honestly not too useful for an average Joe, but worth it's weight in gold for a repairman

What I don't like about these devices is, its like a wall wart thats always on consuming power inside your wall.

Also, this is all BS. Quality depends mostly on volume of work. If you don't have a lot of work, you'll need to switch to quality service to compete. Too much volume and the standards drop to match.
