I personally agree that true crime and fiction needs to be separated as the victims and families have been through enough! Talking of thrillers to recommend.... I am reading First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston at the moment and it's a good time so far.

Oh wow! This is truly..... I'm writing and I truly have no words except: This makes for good drama. And her writing a book? For herself? I have to wonder how much true writing she will do and how much it will be AI.... I wouldn't be surprised about that. BTW, this Calley person reminds of an author (can't recall her name right now) who trashed other authors and author's books with fake account on GoodReads (and IIRC other sites as well). She was blaming it on her illness, blaming it on medication, things like that. Really, the illness made you write really negative reviews of books you've never read and and trash authors and then lift up her own book like it's the gift everyone has been waiting for.... Eerily similar feelings.... Thank you for this video. I had no idea about this. I thought the author community had some really bad apples, but this is just as bad. It's good that word gets out about it.

I 100% agree. I started the year with 60 books but I went whole months without picking up a book so I decreased the goal to 52. I want to read at least once book a week because I love reading and it's good for my personal health so I want to include my reading habit. I was WAY to ambitious about reading challenges. I think I will only do one challenge each year and only one that works with my other goals, like reading more book by Indigenous authors, authors from the Caribbean and reading author's backlists.

You can't reason why a person with narcissistic personality disorder, no empath having, mindsets do what they do. Scamming people is justified in their eyes, and if you call them out, they are the victim. Clearly, this "influencer" can not keep her own lies straight. ....so glad i never joined the booktok community.

I have a lot of thoughts concerning how the author handled the backlash but im still kinda interested to read the book. One thing molly said really stuck with me: a lot of white authors get away with so much crap, while she's being attacked from all sides. But I think i want to wait till the next installment comes out and see ppls reactions 😂😂 Also the way you described your reading is how i react when im really into it 😂😂

I am shocked that common sense now has to be explained and justified in 30 minute videos.

I have never set a read goal & can't see myself ever doing that. Sometimes I read voraciously & other times not. I only know how much I read because of electronic records. I mentioned my best month on my Goodreads profile bc it's funny how high it is, but what I didn't say was that I was so ill at that time I was bed-bound & in & out of the hospital, so reading was literally all that I did despite being a mother & wife. That is not normal and it lasted ~ 3years. Then I had the recovery/ reintegration to life years where reading was super scant. Life has ebbs and flows so does my reading. And I'm okay with that.

I haven't heard about this author before either. As I have seen before, as sad and as disturbing as this is, there are people out there who support and fantasize about real life 'cute face' killers and there might be a reading community who would read and enjoy this book. Nonetheless, I do thank you for taking a stand against this author and their actions.

Describing characters as "the brunette" or "the blonde" irks me to no end. It's such a common cliche in fanfics and romance books.

It's not a thriller, it's a YA mystery, but if you haven't check out Meredith Adamo's Not Like Other Girls, it goes so hard on how we treat young women and has very strong themes of survivorship and trauma. It's one of the best YA MSTs I've read

Sisters of the Lost Nation is a good and important fictional book about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and I highly recommend reading that instead because it's a real issue that I think is treated respectfully and in a heart felt manner.....

Watching people on BookTok thirst over a literal *NAZI MURDERER* who killed two women, tried to kill a third, and has multiple swastikas tattoos on his face was just so profoundly disturbing as a Jewish reader in these spaces.
