Hi... update, we done the drive. had an accident, 10m outside Vik, our car swerving off the road, and the snow is too thick to get back to main road, the wind blew so hard it went total "white"out on windshield. Stranded near cliff side, which is scary if I recall it now, my Son got the whole thing on video since he was riding shotgun. It was 0800hrs driving, but its pitch black outside. Being near Vik, the tow truck arrived within 10min. They help us back on the road, it was fast, efficient and not to expensive approx Eur. 150 (I think?). My advice, drive EXTREMELY Slow, try to leave 1 or 2 hrs early, everything would be ok. Just be cautious and extra patient, and Icelandic road will reward you with a beautiful scenery Lesson learned, but I will not hesitate, to be driving again, if I ever come back to Iceland. The view was simply breathtaking and its absolutely beautiful. Once in a lifetime experience. Iceland was just beautiful in every way.

@alexandrenjoto52875 ай бұрын
We are driving a 4x2, it's small/medium SUV, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross hybrid. I guess the car's ground clearance play a good part since (fortunately ) no single bump or scratch in the car.

your video was stunning and scary in the same time. And I´m sorry to hear about the accident. Thank God you are safe and managed it very well. I´m planning to visit there in the last week of January next year. Do you think should be a good idea, once it will be winter time? Also, by your experience, it´s fine to drive in the freeways and roads in there? Is the internet and signal work well in case you need help in a place and must call someone, or whatever? Thx a lot man
@alexandrenjoto5287Күн бұрын
@denismoraissilva3294 The freeways is ok, and (I believe) they plow it on regular basis. The best thing to do, check the road report, if its closed, don't ever try it. If it's open, then extra precautions shall be taken. Signals should not be a problem, internet might be. I dont think I saw a blankspot for Signals, however I cant be 100%. Blank spots are there for inet, phone Signals I think it's always available. We drove 2nd week of December. I cant say for end of January, looks like top if the winter time. I don't encourage u to drive, however, the scenery is out of this world. I'm glad, able to experience that once in a lifetime. Especially drive from Vik to Jokulsarlon, OMG, total whiteout scenery. Just be careful, be patient, and don't rush. Emergency shoulder road, are not available. Turn on ur hazard light, and drive really slow if necessary
