for me Yena somehow has always come across more j-pop like, just based on her clothing style on and off mvs and live performances and also the music she does. I have listened to kpop for almost 20 years now and j-pop and j-rock even longer but I haven't really listened to much new stuff in the past few years. Her japanese song DNA was recommended to me on some j-pop video I was watching and that was my introduction to Yena. Tbh I actually thought she was Japanese artist until I looked her up, she somehow fits the j-pop image so well.
