Those mirrors may look nice, but due to excessive vibrations, they are totally useless at speeds much over 35mph. Even bar end weights do not help.

Will USA or EURO models have any engine restriction. The same engine that is fitted in this M1000R was heavily restricted on the USA S1000RR previous years. Will these same restrictions be imposed on the USA M1000R ? Will us Europeans be spared that nonsense again this year?

What is the difference in performance numbers of the M1000r vs the standard S1000rr?
@King-Arthur-The-First
@King-Arthur-The-First Жыл бұрын
Good question. Also it’s worth noting USA and euro may have different power. Last year my friends new s1000r had about 150-160rwh and my s1000RR had about 190rwh. This is based on my feel and experience and as normal is about 15hp down on manufacturers claimed figure which is a crank figure not rrwh. I have M1000R on order here in U.K. They can’t tell me at the moment if there could be any restriction this year in the same way USA have been restricted to date. I won’t keep std exhaust so will be looking to remap also. This remap would bypass any restriction anyway so I m not too worried about possible restriction. If I was USA then I would be booking in with brentune.

@@King-Arthur-The-First that said the M1000R does have around the same HP. I'm just curious since they have started that 4th-6th are shorter gears, and they fact it's not as aerodynamic with a top speed of 174 mph if that means it will pull harder to it's to speed. Therefore being theoretically quicker than the S1000RR, but not as fast since the S1000RR tops around 190mph.
@King-Arthur-The-First
@King-Arthur-The-First Жыл бұрын
I understand where you’re coming from. I was surprised to learn that any different gear ratios were in the M1000R compared to the RR. I thought they would just choose to drop in the RR engine in the M as is. M1000RR ,Will be a lot more wheelie prone than the RR for lots of reasons. I’m struggling a little bit to explain being dyslexic as can be, but, comparing 2023 M1000R & S1000RR & both having functioning winglets and remembering that aerodynamics play a huge part at higher speeds the M1000R has in theory a gearing advantage only to 170mph. I think BMW Have sensibly decided people are not too interested in trying to go much faster than 170 on a naked bike and therefore concentrated gearing more on acceleration. In all honesty, I would expect both bikes to be about the same from 0 to 170mph if the M1000 rider can do everything possible to limit wheelies. I’m talking here about lying on the tank with feet and legs hanging low as possible there for that kind of low c. Of g drag racing riding style😀 Ps yes, the electronics can limit wheelies but we must be mindful that at the same time that would mean limiting forward propulsion to achieve that. if you can use physics to your advantage as much as possible to help you achieve your goal, and avoid electronic interference as much as possible. It’s better that way. But then it’s always better To avoid electronic interference where possible👍

Well, out of all the bikes I've done my research on it boils down to either getting the M1000R or getting the 2023 Suzuki Hayabusa. The Hayabusa, without a doubt, will more than likely be the most reliable with it's bullet proof engine, but I also like the M1000R because of it's upright position. I'm 6'2" tall so I'm wondering which bike will be more comfortable for me ?
@bmwmotorcyclesofriverside252
@bmwmotorcyclesofriverside252 Жыл бұрын
Comfort is subjective, but the open-feeling ergos of the M1000R, especially with the optional adjustable rearsets, make it well-suited for larger riders. Dominik from the video is quite tall (6'3 or more) and looked comfortable on the bike during our long group ride around SoCal. He didn't appear too big for the bike at all. Objectively, the M1000R is vastly lighter and more responsive than the Hayabusa and probably a bit more exciting considering the power to weight ratio. For canyons or track days, there's no comparison; it would eat the Busa for lunch. The M-R is surprisingly smooth and easy to ride at all speeds and in all conditions too. With an MSRP that starts around $23,000, it doesn't cost much more than the Hayabusa while packing more features and far more exclusivity. Both bikes are great options but you know which one we'd choose!

@@bmwmotorcyclesofriverside252 haha...yep I know which one you'd chose. I think I'm on your side brotha man. I'd choose the M1000R since you can tour on it due to the upright position as well as have fun on it and it's powerful enough to ride up the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina easily and effortlessly !!!

With a little hanging off the inside, you can carve canyons quite swiftly on the R18. As seen in the video, just a cheek off the seat will allow you to hustle the bike through tight corners.
