That's an awesome move. Quicker finish than the typical Ushiro Gatame.

Great video! Just wondering what brand name of power twister you have? I've heard online that quality varies btn brands. And, also, how long do these last if you use them every day or every other day all year long?
@WelcomeMatJudoClub7 ай бұрын
I have several different brands. The oldest is one made by Weider. I usually use the power twister as a warm-up exercise before doing an upper body day. There have been some periods when I used a power twister with a lot of resistance, but I usually now work with one that is moderate in resistance.

Good point about getting under uke and placing your L leg close to his foot. I use this one a lot and it fails if I don't do these things, drop under, get close.

It used to be one of my favourites, but if you missed it and caught only one leg it was a risk of getting penalty points. I lost one of my matches due to that. But the reward for getting a good hard morote gari would leave my opponent out of breath and open to a chokehold from the front. And then it was more about clinging to the choke and dragging him in close

I find this is often difficult to perform in demonstration if uki has a firm hand on the belt with the arm in the leg weave as it locks down your hip from shrimping away and that grip isn't easy to break. Of course, in randori, they are unlikely to weave your leg and grab your belt and settle that close in before you have any time to react. The lesson here being, make sure this is an explosive movement! In ne waza, especially if your partner scored a waza-ari, you only have ten seconds in osaekomi before they win by Ippon. The longer you wait to frame and turn into them, the harder will it be to shrip your hip away and establish a guard. Keep up the good work, Judoka!

Much Respect Sensei Steve! Keep spreading the knowledge. Quick question: wouldn’t this Kansetsu-waza be considered the older version of Ude-hishigi-HARA-Gatame?? Either way, a trip to Tap-Out City.
