The major markets of Europe, Great Britain, America and Japan shaped and dictated high end automobiles for the decade before and after this car and then beyond .....each country did things their own many but the cross pollination of ideas and admiration was there....the purity and focus of purpose is a result of the pre-tech time period.....but it is now seen as the sweet spot of driver focused production

The car that was supposed to have it all. It was supposed to put The Cobra and Carrol Shelby out of business. The numbers were supposed to be impressive, but they were never verified. And how many major races did it win, zero. Great expectations were never realized. Personally, I thought it just looked way out of proportion, and unfinished.

Love this style as well as the 64 thru 67 but at 6'4" it's not practical
@classicperformance11 күн бұрын
At 6' 4" it's a tough fit for many cars of the era. However, try your fit on an MGB, they have amazing leg room compared to Corvettes and domestic "pony cars" of the 60's and especially compared to the MGAs. Thanks for the interest!

That looks good to me. I think I'll build one myself, except that I'll put a lightweight storage building on it. No sense in building when you can just buy a storage building and install windows in it. Much easier and all aluminum instead of wood... which means it will be lighter weight. Kinda excited about it.
@classicperformance11 күн бұрын
That's a fantastic idea! Keep us posted on the progress! --and if you do a video comment back with a link.

"We're here to do fast driving" I never seen the spedo go above 100. You sir just drive, went through the gears. I had my 67 coupe back in the day 130 MPH, not on a track. Now with the 2017 GS C I have reached 140, with so much to go. Some day over 200. NICE. Drive it, drive it like you stole it, not test driving They are meant to be driven, HARD

I've been told to avoid screws for framing. Reason being is that screws are too ridgid and too strong of a bond. When you account for swaying from wind and in your case wake also it would put too much stress on the wood opposed to nails. Love your build though.
@classicperformance14 күн бұрын
Very good point, and we agree. You would not want to use deck screws in any structural application. However, in structural it is approved to use Simpson Strong-Tie screws, which is what we used knowing the stresses. You are correct a standard screw will snap vs a nail which will flex. Appreciate your interest.

I actually replaced the USA standard clunky plastic center with this leather covered piece I found from a vendor in Germany several years ago online for a more updated and pleasing look. We still have the hard plastic original.

Early cruise control with throttle. Very nice machine and well maintained. A stylized cormorant over the radiator. Probably one of the best demos I’ve ever seen as to vintage automobiles. I drive my stock 51 Chevrolet 1/2 ton near daily so am familiar with older vehicles. Every thing works as new on her as well including six volt systems and gauges and lighting.
